Not entirely true. There's CUDA-based water effects in Just Cause 2. They're pretty awesome looking, actually Maybe that's not much, but it shows that the CUDA functionality can be used in games. Who knows if maybe more games may not come out that can make use of CUDA?

And the CUDA cores are also known as your 'shaders', so, technically, they are totally being used anytime you game

@OP worst case scenario if you keep your current CPU, and upgrade to 570, is that you get the same FPS you get now ... only you'll be able to get that FPS using MUCH higher in-game image quality settings. The vast majority of the time, you'll get both ... higher FPS and be able to use higher settings.

The e8400 at 4.0GHz is still quite a competent gaming chip for the most part, esp. if you're only running one video card. There's only a few games out there where it's going to struggle to the point where it noticeably impacts your gaming experience vs. having the latest/greatest CPU: BFBC2 and GTAIV are the first two that come to mind, and there's a few others, but not a ton. It'll hurt your score on certain benchmarking apps, too, but who cares about that?

Any of these cards: 460/6850/6870/560/470/570/6950/6970 are all very good cards (both the 1 and 2GB versions of each, where applicable), and all are well-priced for their level of performance. Really can't go wrong w/any of them ... but you'll want to bide your time and keep an eye out for good deals

I know CUDA is shaders, just saying other than folding it is pretty useless.

Hi, Thanks again for all inputs.

- What do you think of HD 6870 CF?

Coz' I'm thinking that I might go in that setup than going to a single GTX 570.

- What card can you compare on a 6870 CF setup?

- What brand of Radeon do you prefer?

Or..

GTX 560 SLI?

In terms of raw power, GTX 560 SLI > 6870CF > GTX 570.

I prefer one stronger card to two weaker SLI/CF. Less issues and hitches that way.

Go with the single 570, it'll most likely last you longer

Umm, 6950s OC really good.
firstly... i have to say that as single cards the 6970 does not beat a 570 in most circumstances... they trade blows but according to 32 different benchmarks on different settings and resolutions...

the 570 leads 18-14 (in 18 of the benchmarks the 570 had higher fps)

as double cards... the 6970 probably will do better in most games because crossfire scales alot better than sli these days.

PROOF: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/292?vs=306

secondly the 6950/6970 overclock relatively worse than their nvidia counter parts. It might reach 1ghz but if you look at the comparative performance gain from such an overclock... it's usually minimal compared to a gtx card

Proof: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...6970-review/26
these were increased by 70mhz

compare them with the delta of a 570 OC at 1900x1200
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-570-review/20
these were increased by 68mhz
