6950 Replacement.

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

So my 6950 2gb has died,Not sure why and i doubt il get a RMA refund because i changed the thermal paste on it which ithink voids the warrenty.

So im going to be needing a new graphics card,At first i thought either GTX560TI,GTX570 OR GTX 480.

But is all that power really needed?

I play Battlefield Bad company 2 mostly at res - 1920 x 1080.

Would i be better off just getting a cheaper GPU like a used GTX 460 1GB then upgrade to something much better when BF3 comes out?
what you guys think?

I was just concearned that 1gb of v ram would not be enough for that res and effect performance?

with your system, I see the 6950 as a good fit.
Changing the thermal paste may not void your warranty, it depends.
Also, did u kill it via 6970 unlock?

See what happens with the RMA and go from there, no need to go green

1gb of v ram is plenty if you are only on one monitor and playing at 1920 x 1080. 2gb is only useful if you play at extremely high resolutions on one monitor (or use multiple monitors).
