I've been using KIS 2011, and right now while it's running, it's only using 10 MB in the background.

I had to un-install and re-install once on my laptop, and the whole thing was painless, like un-installing any other program. Kaspersky isn't like Norton used to be.

Kaspersky also offers a full uninstall utility that will completely rid itself from your system.

That being said, I like Kaspersky and have been using it for years.

No arguements there.
Beats the heck out of Nortony or Macrapafee.
Add Spyware Doctor for backup and that's a potent setup.

I love everything about Kaspersky except for the fact that I can't run a virus scan because it eats up 100% of my RAM and locks-up my comp until it crashes. Try running a scan.

Lol. You think you telling him to run a scan will be the first time he's ever run a scan?

Mine doesn't use 100% of ram, not sure what's going on with yours.
(Just ran a scan to verify, 400mb max usage during a scan. [Might depend on file size])

I installed it on my PC and it said my subscription only lasted for 3 days XD. Reinstalled MSE and Malwarebytes XP.

I think you've missed the point. It wasn't about the first time running a scan. I'd like to see what memory usage occurs deep into a scan.

Perhaps, but this same problem has occurred on Kaspersky 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and all while I had 8GB of RAM in my PC. I was thinking file size too, but this still doesn't make sense according to what drives and what files I scan.

Weird, maybe you could try this and see if it helps.

Goto Settings > Click the magnifying glass > Full Scan > Custom Settings > Scope > Additional (at the bottom) > Do not unpack large compound files and set the size to ~100mb

You can also set it to skip objects scanned longer than xxx seconds.
