$100

Thread Starter
I read the recommendation thread but I'm making a post anyways.

I'm looking for a 5.1 system for my PC for $100 or less so i can have surround sound in Battlefield 3.

I just DO NOT care about sound quality enough to pay more than that.
I will never purchase a sound card either.

Does anyone have anything to recommend or am I just going to get flamed for not caring about sound quality?

I think the Logitech Z506 are not bad for that price. If I remember, MaximumPC gave them an 8 or something like that.

. I use them. They're loud - 75w rms for under $100 is mega win. Bass is good even at high levels.
Review here. Personally only thing I hate about it is that although it's the successor to the X540, it doesn't have a remote. Volume control has instead been placed on the speaker itself - Not practical since most 5.1s are placed beyond an arm's length reach. Bass control is also on the subwoofer itself. Everything else is perfect.

Well, If you want more FPS, getting a sound card is the way to go, even if it's a really crappy one. I guess just to you, sound doesn't really matter. In some case for me, that applies too. But I love the sound of bullets exiting the barrels, and my music whenever browsing internet.

As long as there is an External sound card, it will give you a FPS boost either way, if it's a 150$ one, or a 15$ one, LOL. FPS Is a MUST For me. Has to be 60+ FPS, or I cannot bear to play it without beating the crap out of the part that's causing the issue.

You may not be planning on getting a soundcard now but if you do, avoid Creative. Go for Auzentech or Asus. Fun fact: Auzentech is based on Creative cards, but the quality difference is Huge.
