2500K Vcore question

I'm running a 2500k on an Asus p8p67 deluxe, o/c to 4.5ghz with vcore at 1.32. However, when I run prime 95 the vcore decreases to 1.30 under load. Is that normal? I always thought vcore increases when under load?

if i decrease my default vcore down to 1.30 in my bios, I get the BSOD after running prime 95 for 5 minutes.

I can't seem to figure out why it's doing that.

Secondly, I read that 1.35 is a conservative 24/7 vcore so I assume I'm good with this setup especially my temp is about 52C under load, and 31C idle at around 27C ambient (water cooled).

Yes its normal for intel chips, is called Vdroop under load. If you want to reduce if you're going to have to up your LLC setting to another settings, either high, ultra high, or extreme if I recall correctly.
I have my 4.6ghz 2500k p8p67 PRO setup running on ultra high LLC (also with duty control and phase control to extreme and VRM freq to 350) at 1.29v. It keeps the vcore at roughly 1.28 under load.

Those temps and volts look fine for 24/7 use in my opinion.

Are you setting the voltage manually or using an offset voltage?

And yes, 1.35v is the max safe voltage. I personally go up to 1.4v since I'm on water, but no higher than that for 24/7.

That's normal, it's called vdroop. You can make your voltage increase at load by enabling LLC and using fixed voltage, however this also means your voltage won't drop to 1v at idle anymore.

Yeah that's a very conservative voltage, I've ran 1.45v for 5 months without any hitches or degradation I just dropped it because 5ghz is pointless for any Call of Duty titles.

I'm setting the voltage manually via bios.

Try using an offset voltage instead. That's the way I have it set up, and usually it fluctuates between the desired voltage and slightly higher. The way offset works is it uses a voltage you select higher than the stock voltage, which is 1.25v. So if you set it to .05v, the voltage under load will be 1.3v, or slightly higher.

Not to thread derail but I could never get a good OC with offset. How did you do it? I set straight to offset mode and shot for 4.8 GHz (probably too high for offset) and no matter what I did the chip Vcore was always set to 1.5X volts by itself. Way too high for me and then the offset would cause the downclocked volts to go too low to even be stable at 1.6ghz.

Wow, that's weird. Did modify any other settings? PLL overvoltage perhaps?

I don't think any other settings were modified. I'm pretty sure I didn't change any settings as per my original plan for 2500k was to just use offset voltage to get a high turbo mode OC. So basically I just turned on offset mode and set the multiplier to 48x for 4.8Ghz and nothing else. Booted into windows and ran CPU-Z and volts were like 1.536 but freq was 4800. After that I decided not to do that again so just turned off the c-states and went with a good 4.6ghz overclock for 24/7 use. So LLC was probably on auto if I remember that to be the correct default setting.
