Why not just invest in a PSU anyway. I'm sure your gonna end up upgrading away from a Dell system if your gonna keep gaming. I would get a 550 watt PSY or 600watt PSU (stuff is being made more energy efficient nowadays). If you havent got RAM yet you may want to weigh your options of decided that factor, DDR 3 is more efficient and less expensive than DDR 2. Think about this.
I used to game on a 2005 Dell 8400 and I couldnt upgrade the CPU even though it was LGA 775. I upgraded everything and my games had crappy FPS. Because it is a Propietary mobo and case.
This can be done and has been. You can try to swap your Dell board with a later Dell series board, pulled from a similiar case (depending on your interior case size). If you want to keep your Dell. This has been done before and the case ribbon connections should match up.
