Bad 2500k maybe just MB? [Asrock P67 PRO]

Hey guys, my Coolmaster 212 came through the mail today and has been fitted without any problems idle temps are around 25/29 which is great and under load around 50.

Now I thought I would try some OC to see what my 2500k could do but so far ive not even managed 4Ghz without my pc crashing when I use prime95 or intel burn test. I even tried bumping my voltage up to 1.4 just see if it will stay stable but it doesnt. Really need some help im starting to get worried about my chip.

Stock settings with prime 95 running, strange also ive noticed the auto boost doesnt seem to be kicking in its stuck 3.4?

What other settings have you tried?

Memory at default.

epu power saving disabled
cpu current capability to 130%
pll overvoltage enabled
digi+vrm to 350
Phase control to extreme
Duty control extreme
vccio voltage to 1.1v
pll voltage to 1.8v
cpu manual voltage set to 1.35 to 1.38 to begin with for a 4.5ghz overclock

I have no idea if the options are the same for asrock

Try these settings

I just tried auto settings (apart from cpu V) for the 4ghz oc because I didnt think and had read that I didnt need to change much to get it to that speed.

Ive changed the settings you mentioned with 1.35 v at 4 ghz it booted into windows and then shut down .

I couldnt find these settings but the rest are there. Im gonna go back into bios and look again from them. OHH and thanx for the help!

cpu current capability to 130%
digi+vrm to 350
Phase control to extreme
Duty control extreme

tbh I have no idea how that board is with overclocking, I would have gone for the pro 3 or pro 4 asrock board as they overclock better

Something is definitely wrong there. Even the worst SB chips can hit 4GHz on stock volts.

Have you tried leaving the voltage on auto?

Edit: and your bus speed is low. If it's set to 100 you should only see it change my .1MHz either way.

Buggar I had the money for a better board as well . I just read that it was more the 2500k then the P67 board that determined the OC ohh well I guess ill need to start saving again.

Yes ive tried auto on everything at 4.0Ghz, I might give it another try, the bus speed is set to defualt in the bios at 100 but I see what you mean is there anything else that can change this or affect the BS?

That is true. I only have the vanilla board, it's below yours.

You might want to try flashing the bios to a newer one.

Oh right, i read Asus P8P67 pro, sorry.

That's not a bad board, it's definitely better than that. I think there is something else at play here.
