Questions for my first OC

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
Hey hey, this is the first time I Overclock my computer and I have some questions about it. I'm able to boot into Windows 7 64 bit with my E8400 OCed at 4.1 Ghz with 1.3625 and the stress test fails. I decided to raise the voltage to 1.38 and it still fail and I'm wondering what's wrong...Also when I look into CPU-Z it says 1.32V so I want to know if the voltage in Bios is the same as the one in CPU-Z?

Can you post details of BIOS settings and tell us if you have a C0 or a E0 stepping E8400. As for your 1.38v in BIOS and 1.32v in CPU-Z, very likely you have LLC (load line calibration) disabled. Try to enable that in the BIOS.

If you have a C0 stepping, 3.7-4ghz is typical where as the E0 can scale 200-400mhz more. Here are my old settings with the E8500 E0 and P5K-E I sold on ebay.

FSB Strap = 333mhz
DRAM = 887mhz 5-5-5-15 2t 1.8v
FSB = 443mhz
Multiplier = 9.5x
Spread Spectrum = disabled

CPU vcore = 1.3375v in bios (1.312-1.32v in cpu-z)
VTT = 1.1v
CPU PLL = 1.5v
NB = 1.4v
SB = 1.05v
LLC = enabled
Rest setting = Auto
