Really? I mean, my cpu idles at about 31-34C. Is it really only supposed to go up a tiny bit at 100% load?

If I do indeed have a problem, what are the most common root causes? Repasting this would be a pain but if necessary I could. Hopefully when I get my fan controller and yates these should go down also. My RPMs with q-fan are 1970(cpu), 947 (back exhaust), 664 (top exhaust, 200mm), 638 (front intake, 200mm).

Without knowing the ambient room temps it's impossible to say, which is why I mention them as much as I do.

I corrected my previous post to read 40-45C, not 40C. I was in too big of a hurry when I posted that. I've seen too many people with i5-2500K's OC'd to 4.0-4.5GHz getting the same cpu temps as you with a 212+ to think that your's should be that hot at stock speeds.

My ambient temps are currently 22.5C. Shouldn't make a difference. Might it have to do with my fan speeds (in my previous post) or is it more of a TIM issue? (using mx-4) Also, Vcore is hovering around 1.300V.

What wouldn't make a difference?

And yes it's quite possibly a TIM issue.

Honestly if i never crashed my car, this would have been the exact build near enough except the dvd drive and the case. However im going with a cheaper AMD build, seems very comparable, but this is an extremely nice build, ive also never had a custom rig before so my own will also be my first Great job once again

The DVD burner he got is one of, if not the best DVD burner available today. It's one of the few using the MediaTek chipset that allows one to not only get great burns, but able to actually check them to make sure. If you get the LiteOn branded version you might not get one with the MediaTek chipset if you order online as most online stores don't take the time to differentiate between them (they are too lazy to look at the complete model number). Unless you get the LiteOn branded one at a Brick and Mortar Store where you can check the part number yourself to verify what you are getting, the Asus branded ones are the only way to know for sure that you have one with the vastly superior MediaTek chipset. They're made by LiteOn and beat anything made by Samsung, NEC/Sony/Optiarc, or anybody else.

Thanks. I have to agree with Papa that the drive is, so far, the best I've ever used, in both performing when I want it to and for efficient burning. Take that cum grano salis however, as I've only ever owned Dell and HP pre-built desktops/laptops before this. My only gripe with it is that it seems to be loud @ full spin-up (i.e. installing win 7, installing games), but this may be due to many factors other than the drive itself (i.e.- crappy DVDs, being secured directly to the 5.25" chassis via screws). I honestly don't used it enough to bother me though. Considering pretty much all drives with comparable features are in the ~$20 range, this is the clear choice.

@Papa Got my CPU ordeal sorted out (as you saw in the 4Ghz thread). It appears that my load temps were high at stock because the auto offset feature was ramping me up to over 1.3V @ stock 3.7 turbo OC. Have only slightly higher temps with same voltage @ 4.5Ghz, so I think I'm fine. I can't seem to POST with pll overvoltage disabled though (@4.5) which, through research, has led me to believe I got a mediocre but passable chip. Once my yates + fan controller comes it will be interesting to see how the temps act (I bought 4 just to mess around with the side also, ought to be fun). Thanks for all of your help/support thus far!
