Before I Purchase, Few Questions.

So I have decided to switch from air to water, (I decided here) and im very excited about it. Here is my prospective build:

  • XSPC Rasa 750 RX360 WC Kit (Jab-Tech) $190
    - Rasa Black (Acetal) CPU Waterblock
    - Socket 775, 1366 and 1154 Backplates
    - Socket AM2 and AM3 mounting kit
    - X2O 750 12V Pump/Reservoir
    - 5mm Blue LED with 4Pin Molex
    - RX360 Radiator
    - 80mm to 120mm Radiator brackets
    - Low Noise 1700rpm 120mm Fan x3
    - 120mm Fan Grill x3
    - 2 Meters of Clear 7/16" Hose
    - G1/4" to 1/2" barbs x6
    - Thermal Paste
  • 2x XSPC G1/4 Barb to 1/2" Fitting (Jab-Tech) $5 (Total of 8 barbs)
  • Heatkiller GPU-X³ GTX 570 / 580 -Hole Edition (FrozenCPU) $110
  • IandH Silver KillCoils (FrozenCPU) $7
  • PrimoFlex Pro LRT UV Blue Tubing -7/16in. ID X 5/8in. OD (10ft pack) ( ) $17
  • PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 5/8in. - UV Blue ( ) $4

Total: $323 (Including shipping)
I did not include amazon because I have a GC there that I will be using

And here is the layout I plan on doing in my Antec Twelve Hundred

I will have the rad outside my case, sticking up and over the top.

Now before I pull the trigger, I want to make sure that this setup will work for my rig. I have done my research and the only 2 things that I am hesitant about are:
  • The rad extending above my case
  • For the $$ I feel like I may not need the Rasa kit and I can buy the components separately; Get the same for less money or better for the same amount of money. (i.e. I am buying my own tubing so I do not need the clear tubing that comes with it)

Can I get your opinions before I purchase OCN? Also, how is the GPU block? Thank you.

How wide is that rad?

Grab a Swiftech radbox to move the case out and move the rad out and down, if possible.

125x58.5x410mm (WxDxH) w/ 8 fins per inch.

This radbox? (Jab-Tech). This would push the radiator further away from my case, so I could go down instead of up. I would be using a 360 instead of a 240 rad. This would be a better setup?

You would need more than a 240mm rad for cpu+gpu imho. I just watercooled my antec 1200 with a rasa rx240 kit and kept all components internal.. rad included. I'm now in the process of adding a 2nd 240mm black ice rad to the top of the case below the 200mm fan to cool my gpu(s).
However with some effort it is possible to mount that 360 rad inside the 1200 case but it depends how many drive bays you have in use.

I will not be using a RX240 Rad, I will be using the RX360 Rad and mounting it externally (see diagram in first post). Just curious, but how are you going to filtx a 240 Rad underneath the 200mm fan? It seems it would jot fit without modding. I unfortunately cannot mount the 360 Rad in the front of my case, as I do not have enough rook to put my hard drives (4 of them).

Thanks for your responses :-).

That setup will work rather well. I have a friend with the exact same setup, except that he put the rad inside where the drive bays are. I would just get different tubing as the stuff that comes with the kit SUCKS. Primochill Primoflex is great and reasonable. Amazon is strangely the cheapest place to get it.

Thanks for your input :-). I will be getting some tubing form amazon and using it instead.

I can personally vouch for the primoflex pro LRT UV blue tubing.. It's what I use in my 1200 case with a couple uv 12" cathodes looks real nice.. I know you weren't using a 240 rad I just seen you had mentioned the one the guy had mounted in the back with the radbox. As for fitting the 240 rad below the 120mm fan... Yes it will be tight, however I have seen it done so I know it's possible and I have every tool I could need to mod a bit if necessary but I got the Black Ice Pro II compact edition and from the look of things biggest feat will be fixing it to the top... I wish you best of luck and if you ever need any help with your 1200 just pm I have done many configs with mine..

Don't mount the rad above your case... bad things happen. During a lan party my friend caught it with his elbow and tore it off the case, which pulled the tubing off, and started spraying water all over the dude sitting across from me... I suppose that's a freak accident, but I would still think it better to keep the rad at or below the top of the case.

Wow, ROFL! No offense but when I read that i started hysterically laughing, I could just image that exact thought with one of my friends lol. I guess I will use the rad box and mount it below, or just put it next to my case

Going to be making my purchase later today and assemble it next week :-)
