Many people buy from sites such as g2play.net including me and no I have never had a problem.

Steam sales are always on aged products, that have been out for a while. Generally if you were interested in said game, you could have found it for the steam sale price a long time ago on another site. Not that steam sales are bad, they arent. But unless you buy a game from steam when its on sale, you probably payed to much.

I buy alot of games from Direct2drive, they are always running specials, and promos that can get you 15-25% your purchase, on anything. I bought battlefield 3 for 30% off on D2D. All preorders there are already 10% off, and i preorder when they had a 20% off promo. BF3 for only $45 is nice.

I dont buy from places like g2play. I dont support people who rip the system. Other people can, i just personally refuse to support that.

Ah ok. I don't tend to buy new releases at launch very much but I will agree that Steam's deals on brand new games usually aren't that great. Even Amazon usually beats them when they do the $20 game credit deals.

The only games I have bought at launch this year are DOW2 Retribution, Dragon Age II (), and The Witcher 2. I usually just wait 6 months for the sales to start.
