My wimpy 2500k

Thread Starter
So..after years of running Prime95, IBT, Realtemp, Super_pi, and CPUZ, along with 100000 restarts and BSOD's it is final; My 2500k takes 1.38v from my GD55 to be stable @ 4.5ghz. Temps are well within reason so I guess this is where it'll sit. Takes way too much vcore to run any higher than 4.5. I did get it to post at 5k for a quick validation though

All in all, I'm still very impressed with this build. I was waiting for BD but really just got too tired of waiting. My e2200 just wasn't cutting it anymore. My buddy picked up the same MB/CPU at Microcenter with me and is running a smooth 4.5 @ 1.325. Dunno how drunk I'll have to get him to pull his cpu and seat mine in his box...

I'm attaching a few pics of the new box before my 6950 came in. I cleaned it up a little more too.

That's a solid overclock. I bought my 2500k with the mind set that I would only get 4.5 and that's what I got. I haven't bothered to even try for more. I am sure as this system ages and I start to feel the pinch I will push it harder, but 4.5 is pretty dam good

i bought mine hoping i would get 4.5ghz as a lot of the reviews i had read said most of the 2500k's with a good cooler should be able to manage 4.5ghz all day long.
mine tops out at 5ghz 1.46v though i run it at 4.7ghz 1.39v 24/7 and its more than enough as even at stock it does not hold back my gtx 570.
At 4.5ghz you wont see any real world performance difference from me at 4.7 or 5ghz unless you want to see a slightly higher cinebench score which lets face it does not make your pc game any better.
Be happy with a super stable OC and enjoy it
