GTX 590 issue. PLEASE HELP!

Thread Starter
Hello all. I have a GTX 590 and I am running 3 24" ASUS LED 1080P monitors. I have been using them in surround and have no issues setting them up. My issue is in game play with Battlefield Bad Company 2. The game will start out great in surround spanning all 3 screens. About 5 minutes into game play, my screens will just go blank, then all white. It freezes and I have to do a hard reboot. I have checked and downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia and from ASUS. Am I missing something? I am using DVI-HDMI cables with the monitors in HDMI input mode. The card works great with everthing else and really good with just 1 monitor.

Can anyone help? . As much as I paid for this card, I would love to get it working.

THANKS!!!!

Bad Company 2 doesn't like to run right. Both Nvidia and AMD have issues with it, albeit they have different issues. What you've found is one of the Nvidia issues. Don't download both Nvidia and Asus drivers though, just one or the other.

Thanks guys...
@Apocalypse...Thats good to know. I am only using one driver. The driver from ASUS seems to be working better Version 267.91....any other driver freaks one of the monitors out and makes it fliker.

@ RagingCain.....I dont think its a game update or a punkbuster issue. Like I said, It ROCKS on a single monitor. I am almost to the point that I wished I would have bought a 30" or something instead of the 3 24"s

Does it matter what cable I use? I am not using the cables ( DVI) that came with them. I went out a bought 3 DVI to HDMI cables due to the length

PB can force crash Bad Company 2, and in my opinion BC2 was a bit hastily rushed port job and doesn't have very good error catching codes. Rather than disconnecting you in some servers because of PB protocols missing, the engine can throw out an error, and then crash, because it doesn't know what to do with the error. So can the STEAM UI Overlay in some games or utilizing the STEAM cloud to sync when its not working, exact same issue happened to me in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Had to disable STEAM UI Overlay and STEAM Cloud for Black Ops to fix it.

I am not saying this IS the error, but it could be, don't be so quick to dismiss. If the cables were an issue, they would be an issue in all games. Do you have a crashing issue in any other games?

Secondly what driver version are you using? You should be on this version:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-wi...ql-driver.html

Furthermore, if your card is from EVGA, there might be an issue with a GPU on the card with lower than what you need voltage. You should see the GTX 590 club for more details on it, and how to flash a new BIOS.

You can also try disabling your Sound Card in the Device Manager, to see if its a Sound Card driver crashing your computer. With Bad Company 2, this is actually an issue quite often. If you disable and are able to play for an extended period of time, you have narrowed it down to motherboard/sound card. Most probably drivers. You would want to ensure you are using the latest x58 chipset from Intel, and the latest sound card drivers from whatever company.

Lastly, you didn't say whether or not if the game is fully up to date, so definitely make sure.

Thanks RagingCain for taking the time to help. I see you have the 590 in SLI....do you have issues playing BFBC2 in surround? if not do you think its because you have 2 cards vs me only having one? Could you share your settings with me?

I checked the update I am running from ASUS and the driver number and files size is the same as the one you linked me too.

Up to about 48 hours ago, the majority of games in my library were totally unplayable. I just got tired of it and fixed my BIOS.

Bad Company 2 would play fine for about 15~30 minutes, then hard lock the whole system, usually with sound repeating the last half a second of noise real loud. That type of crash is usually a sound card driver issue but its hard to tell if the sound card caused the driver to crash, or the video card caused the system to crash, or something else caused the crash.

Its running much better now that I reflashed my BIOS and have the latest drivers installed. I have yet to have a BC2 hard-lock although I haven't played much (about 20 minutes last night) so I can tell you if it worked for longer periods tonight.

I think I found a sulution to the GTX 590 and BBC2 issue. I read online that a audio driver might me an issue. I checked my machine and saw a Realtek driver and a Nvidia audio driver. I deleted both of them as I dont have any Realtek hardware in my machine and I do not use HDMI audio.

BAM!!!!!! The game runs smooth as crap on high settings!!
Thanks for the heads up RagingCain. That seemed to do the trick
