There are lots of paid apps on Cydia.

This guy needs to sue. He really should be getting royalties for ever device w/ iOS5 on it.

I'm guessing when he submitted to Apple, they decided that his app was too close to a core iOS functionality to be supplied by an App Store developer. They may have even had such a functionality planned.

They contacted him by phone, even asked him for his CV, at that point he probably should have realized what was going on. Instead of sending his CV, he sent his app to Cydia, and from that point on I don't really feel bad for him.

Apple may have even made an offer to come aboard and help with the development, who knows.
Just quoting this so that people not too busy hating can read something actually relevant.

What would his argument be? That he invented wireless syncing and Apple stole it?

Or would it be about his icon (that is nothing more than two icons Apple already uses put together)?

What exactly is he going to sue for?

And Android ripped off WebOS notifications, so there you go. Only problem for you is Apple will implement notifications in ways far better than its competitors, just like it does with all the features that it later brings to the table (like copy and paste). Apple is seldom the first to offer common sense things like this, but they almost always get it right the first time when they do.

Absolutely not, but the creator of it should be payed a royalty or something, I mean look at how similar the two apps are, even the icons look the same. That's almost blatant stealing, and the only reason they didn't approve it for the apple store was because they saw it and decided they wanted it as a feature in their phones someday.

Oooh buddy. Go lie some more.

I had a Pre 2, the WebOS notifications were at the bottom and weren't a scroll down panel, it would just show a icon for a text or email and you press it and just pops up a panel on the bottom and you would be able to see the notifications.

Fail fanboy.

Ah, I can hardly wait for Apple to introduce widgets and see everybody go insane.

"It's new and revolutionary!"
"It's iNNOVATION!"
"It changes everything - again!"

Instead of something as blatant as "Apple Widget", they could call it "ap-get".
