So I can save about $150ish dollars by buying a refurbished laptop. The warranty wont expire until May of 2012, should I buy?

Take out the hyphen...it's just refurbished.

I would...you have about 1 year of warranty which is pretty standard on a laptop anyway and all refurbished means is that something messed up and they just replaced/fixed it and now it's working again.

Edit:

Actually...is it FACTORY refurbished or just refurbished...sometimes that counts. A lot of people try to "fix" things and then sell it as "refurbished" which it is technically but factory refurbished means that it was repaired/replaced by the manufacturer and that counts.

If you can get better bang for the buck, I say go for it. I'll be looking for another laptop sometime around the end of this year and I'll almost certainly be looking refurbed for the savings. Worst case there are aftermarket warranty companies, that should cover a refurb unit as well. Their rates are typically lower than the warranty straight from a Dell or a HP, but I'm not sure as to their quality. Return speed and what not could be slower, but for 1/4th the price I guess thats what you get?

GL with purchase!

As long as it is factory refurbished, I wouldn't worry about it too much. With factory refurbished laptops (as well as many other products), usually a new shell is put on (so it physically looks new), and has most likely gone through extensive testing to ensure everything is up to the standards of a new product. So I personally say go for it. Plus you get warranty on it, which is an added benefit.
