Any venomous x owners?

How do you like the heatsink? How does it compare to high end such as the D14 or SA? For those of you who had it, why did you switch and what kind of temperature differences did you see? I am either going to use one AP14 or 2 Yate Loon mediums on it. I'm really looking forward to getting this heatsink.

I don't have it but i heard it cripples CPU sockets :/
The CM212+ works for me, but if i was upgrading i would go D14.

Got mine recently. Only used the stock cooler for a couple days before. Dropped idle down about 10 degrees I think. It runs at about 27c/47c iirc. I like it a lot, but its massive. Pretty sure it would not have fit in my antec 900.

What are you implying by saying "cripple"? The weight? If you are, then I believe those people are just paranoid.

The 212+ works well for you because your chip runs alot cooler than a 920. I also have RAM clearance issues. The G.Skill Pi is extremely tall.

Well apparently the venx pushes the CPU in too far.

The pressure system only has problems if you set it to max pressure. Apparently lga sockets have a max tolerance for about 60 lbs of continuous pressure but the ven x can go up to 70 lbs iirc. Just don't tighten it all the way and you'll be fine

Have had mine for 6 months, works amazing As for the pressure, just be sure to only tighten it to finger strength, or a little more, rather than using the wrench to completely tighten it.

I think the biggest issue was the pressure system which I think Thermalright didnt expect prolly due to the lack of long term testing. The whole pressure system that Thermalright made was derived from enthusiasts doing the washer mod with the TRUE. The pressure system design took a further step with the different pressure settings.

Anyway, I have been using the Venomous-X for over a year and it has been all good. I pair my Venomous-X with 38mm San Aces H1011 with shrouds.

What kind of temperatures do you get? I have a 920 also. I'm replacing the H50 I got with the ven x.

Not true, users push the CPU in too far, not Venomous X.
Biggest issue with VenX is lack of information regarding possibility of damaging certain sockets by using maximum pressure for long periods of time.
Don't use the pressure knob at all and you'll be perfectly safe.

My i5 2500k @ 4,5GHz / 1.312v cooled by Venomous X Black with 2x CM BladeMaster 120mm fans peaks at 65C in Prime95 blend with ambient temperature of 20C.

The biggest advantage VenX has over SA/NH-D14 is tall RAM compatibility traded for slight performance decrease.
