Asus M5A99X Evo v. Asus Sabertooth 990FX

Okay, well I am doing a semi-budget build with heavy emphasis on the motherboard.

I do not need more then 1 or 2 pci 16x slots as I do not have the money, or need to go overkill on graphics cards.

What I really care about is overclocking capabilities. What I am worried about with the M5A99X Evo is the 6+2 power phase. This, other then the reliability of the Sabertooth would be the only reason I wouldn't choose this board. Now, no one knows about the pricing but as the Sabertooth is priced at $199 I am expecting the M5A99X Evo to be considerably low, $150-$170 (Maybe lower).

My main question really is, "How will the 6+2 power phase differ from the 8+2?"

The 990X will understandably offer fewer features, such as only 8x-8x CrossfireX/SLI.

Depending on what processor you need, the power phase might not even make a huge difference. In either case, it is heatsinked fairly well.

The M5A99X EVO should be closer to $130-140. I have seen the Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 in Canada for $140 CAD preorder.
