Electronic Arts executive Frank Gibeau has hinted that we could see a new Mirror's Edge game built with the Frostbite 2 engine in the future.

that would be very very cool - the first one, even with all its faults was alot of fun and a change of pace, i would like to see it open world, ie. have the main story but alot of side quests etc... that would be very cool

Now make the game longer, no animations, dx 11, physx, 3d, surround, eyenfinity.
Also i want it to be more aggressive, especially in the fights. I want to be able to kick some A$$ hard just like movies, District 13 and so...
No animations? Whats that meant to mean?

Also, original game had phsyx, I don't think the 2nd one will because frostbite has its own physics engine? Or I would like to see Bullet physics used, something not nvidea exclusive.

As much as I don't like the Unreal Engine for certain reasons it still looks better than Frostbite 2. Game devs will know this, it's just the performance issues. Plus it worked perfectly for Mirror's Edge. The overexposed lighting was perfect for it.

Can't wait to see! I wonder if they will actually add destruction in that game, so that you can kick chunks off of walls XD. Anyway I am also excited for the FB2 utilization. I am a massive Unreal Engine fanboy, but I want to see how much the second mirror's edge can destroy the first in terms of visuals as well..

The lack of ass-kicking helped give the game its unique feel. Also, what do you mean, "no animations"? Like... no first-person animations? Not seeing the legs etc while you run? 'cause that was another thing that really made Mirror's Edge... Well, it just made it a good game.

To be honest, while I'd love to see this game, a lot of the things that Frostbite 2 adds don't appeal to me all that much. Multiple light sources? Great, but unnecessary when outdoors. Destructible scenery? Not necessary on a small scale, and every semi-decent game engine that Mirror's Edge could be made on supports large-scale scripted destruction in one way or another.

Unreal Engine did the last game just fine. Frostbite 2 would do it fine too.I just wish that the last game had provided physics a different way. I hate how it looks better on my laptop running an Nvidia 8600M than on my desktop during any scene featuring glass or canvas.

I suspect he's referring to the anime-style cutscenes
