[YT] first bench of BD in cinebench - Page 8

I've been messaging the guy who made the vid, here's what he wrote back.

Yes, it is real, not a fake video. I understand your concern. If I use a camara to record the video it would be more easy for you to trust it. But to keep the quality good, I used a sperate computer to capture it.

The cpu is B0 stepping, it seems to have problem with the multiplier. The multiplier is adjustable within the bios and the AMD overdrive software. But it seems fixed, unchangable. The same applies to the NorthBridge multiplier, which is also adjustable but fixed at x11. Hope you can get what I mean.

My board can reach around 310Mhz fsb, but this cpu only maxed out 260Mhz after adding additional voltage to components expecitally the cpu NB.

About the low performance, I think it is the cpu problem, but I can't confirm. Or the bios/driver is premature. As you can see on chinese website, they also have similer result. But anyways, it's B0, not the final stepping.

That's all for now.

Until we get some confirmed benches from a retail version these leaks are going to be coming left and right. In the absence of info these are at least interesting to see...

Can't wait until all this rumor BS is over...
I want some official benchmarks of the soon-to-be-shipped BD chips.

Thank you for communicating with the video's author, as people here would rather make loose speculations based upon their own speculations than understand why the performance is low.

So the B0 stepping on Bulldozer stinks, B1 was musky, and B2 will be the real deal. It fits within what little information we have, and explain a lot of the sub-par benchmarks we've been seeing. I also suspect that current BIOS's are just 'Bulldozer Ready' and not full-support.

Completely understandable sir, Rep+ for you!

No probs, the video looked real to me, and the guy was active in the comments, so I messaged him requesting a Cinebench run, and was asking him questions. I also asked him how he got the chip, he bought it in China.

So yea, it's clear this B0 stepping is simply having issues, sounds like the multiplier is locked at 11, and the speed that is being read in CPUZ is probably not the speed the chip is really running at.

We also saw similar issues on one of AMD's vids, where each core had a different multiplier, and running at different speeds which was weird.

Possibly some form of active per-core scaling they initially planned to use? I hope we will see some B1 + B2 benchmarks to see the gains from each improvement before the actual release.

EDIT: Mods, could we get a clean-up crew in here? :haha

honestly, I really have no idea what exactly is crippling it down, we can just chalk it up to a buggy CPU since we don't know what the real reason is.

I just read through the thread, and it's funny how people take these results personally. This is a real B0 stepping Bulldozer CPU that is simply not working correctly, retail should be B2 stepping which should fix what ever issues these ES samples are having.

We knew the first the round of chips had problems. Chips always do, regardless of the manufacture and or cpu, or gpu, ram. People lie, they wont go out of their way to lie that. Not on such a personal level!
I'm just glad finally see something. I'm ready to build a new system.

Think about it. It's a dump truck full of molten sand. Turned into gold, get your $$ out, I need hug.

The thing I dont get is that the majority of haters on this thread all ready own crazy fast intel processors...Its like they need to feel reasured that there procesor was worth the money. They just need to get it through there thick heads that there will be something faster than there processors in the future ands it just matter of time. Thats technology, live with it... Instead they should be happy that they were able to buy such an amazing processors and know that they have/had a awsome setup and leave it at that. Also, post somthing constructive instead of BD=fail... These are ES chips things can change...and if BD dose suck then we can just buy intel. That simple.
LOL..guys need to loosen up.
