I don't think that's how they are looking at it

They're not comparing between the same game in diff platforms, they are comparing the new console port game (for example DA 2) to it's former PC oriented big brother (DA 1). People say 2 has a completely different system(remember I have not played that yet, I only read about this), and people didn't like that system and stated that the change was a total fail.

A lot of people are complaining that by being more accessible to people, the dev often drastically change the ways to play a game that was once a classic. Not saying that it happens to all ports but it just seems that a lot of these ports have that problem.

I'm neutral on this issue, I hope you don't find my comments biased. I've yet to experience the issue myself, but I believe those gamers arent complaining for no reason when they say the new game system of so and so port is bad.

I think the problem is that if games were developed for PC first they'd look a hell of a lot better than console versions. That's what pisses me off most, not to mention all the load-screens I have to sit through because a game was developed for consoles with limited memory.

tbh though I found black ops crap even by console standards (I played it on a 360). Despite its popularity I don't think its a fair comparison as there are many better games ported from consoles both in bugginess and general quality.

Honestly, with the newest generation of cpu's having started to introduce pretty powerfull gpu's (not compared to what we as overclockers and enthusiast use but still) I would be very suprised if the pc market in genral did not pick up massively.

A huge problem the pc has had as a gaming machine is that if you want to use one to game you have to know a fair bit or spend allot, whereas a console is cheap and requires no knowledge at all. When everyones family pc can run the latest tittles the complete stangle hold that console have with be lessened and i think we will see a large increase in the number of games developed for the pc wether it will ever truely become the primary focus I dont know but I expect that we will no longer be treated as second rate citizens at least ^^

If piracy wasn't so rampant, PC games would easily be favored.

Sad to say that this is true. The day that all new games have graphics that even the computer our mothers(in case you have a gaming dad) own can run smoothly will be the day PC gaming rises.

And this is exactly how Warcraft 3 kept it's popularity in china and Taiwan. Can you imagine when I help my taiwan friend pick laptops online last year, as I was browsing through, I saw ones that have a crappy dedicated gpu with a title 'machine that runs warcraft' going for like 500-600 dollars (I guess laptops over there are expensive)

And you all thought only crysis can be used in that line huh? Wrong!

EDIT : now that I think of it, that alone won't do. You will probably need introduction of new consoles for PC gaming to gain any favors. Otherwise people will just keep buying games for their consoles because they are used to game on those. Once new consoles are up, they are now forced to choose between getting a new console or simply upgrade their family computer a little. That might successfully convert some people

you're either talking about super meat boy (which I've played and is great fun) or super mario brothers. I'm not entirely sure which.
