Suggestions For Folding

Thread Starter
I have mobile broadband in the sticks of Florida, my neighbor is Oliver Douglas from Green Acres, and I have a HP Laptop with 3 gigs of ram and a Dual Core AMD 2 Gig Processor, I am wondering what is the fastest way I can fold and which projects should I take and not take due to limited bandwidth and computer speed, it currently serves as my Music Tune Box, any suggestions

By bandwidth you mean for downloading a project? Work Units (WU) are minimal in size for a broadband connection (5-10MB IIRC). You can't "take" a project, projects are assigned by Stanford. That said, just install the client and run it. I wouldn't expect too much Points Per Day (PPD). A Google search shows people get 1000-1500 PPD on a Athlon II X2 240. Better than a PS3 but short of a more dedicated rig.

Still every folder contributes. Its not necessarily how much you contribute but that you contribute. Points are just for vanity.

If the score does not matter why do we keep score? Just like one folder should not let him low output define him neither should a high output folder let his output be used to disparge him.

To the question at hand. Folding is an extreme use of your hardware and laptops are not designed for the stresses inflicted by folding. I do not suggest you fold on your laptop. I feel that even though the team wants all the ppd we can get I would not be "doing my job" if I did not inform you as to just how stressful folding is on equipment.
