I tried this on my i7-950 system and it says that test failed. Same settings pass 24 h of Prime95 blend or 50 rounds of Linx easily.

Passed in your test but failed in LinX.

Reason (I believe) is because I have more Vdroop in LinX. Idle voltage in cpu-z is 1.392V.
core voltage drops to 1.376V in LinX.
In your test, core voltage stays at 1.384V.
LLC is on.

In your test, core0 temperature reached 70C max. In LinX, core0 temperature reached 82C.



Next, I lowered Vcore to the next lowest voltage in the bios (1.384V). In cpu-z, Vcore showed 1.376V in your test .... after 1-2minutes, I left the room and returned after 5 minutes. My computer already restarted.

Your stability tests seems good. Seems less extreme than LinX but, for a gaming machine, I dont think LinX stability is absolutely necessary. I will use your test again. Faster than prime95 but slower than LinX .... at detecting low Vcore.

@mm67: Your feedback is very good, could you give me more information on the voltage / frequency used during testing and the measured time if possible?

@Partol : Thank you very much for the tests you're doing! Your tests are very interesting and they would help me a lot for my thesis.

@all: At the end of the test it asks if you want to send data via email, on your result, I would appreciate your feedback.

Prime Blend, 1 minute tests over 10 minutes (allows multiple size tests to work in a short time) Hottest core 61C

Interestingly this is the first time I've run any stability testing with this clock speed. For me if it crashes on idle, or in light load its unstable so I don't even stress test my sandy anymore. Because if it doesn't crash during those times I haven't in several months had it crash under load.

Another thing of note is that your test has almost no IMC usage, while IBT seems to actually stress the cores the least (highest load vcore) while generating the most heat. Both your program and Prime Blend lowered my load vcore down around 1.41v, IBT typically ran it around 1.44v.

Not having any stress on the IMC or ram may not be the best course of action for a true stability test.

I just noticed something weird while making this screenshot, when I run your test program together with Cpu-Z and CoreTemp it says testing passed ok. When I run test program alone it always says testing failed at about one minute mark.

thanks for your trials, have been important to me. As I mentioned my stress test focuses only on the stress of the CPU and the memory of not... And for this reason it has low temperatures Compared to other programs.
The Objective is to Implement a testing program of stablity very fast which does not produce much heat and do not cause many cache-miss.

Regarding the experiments which I did:
Switching the CPU in a state of semi-instability, among the tests carried out, only my test program failed while other programs passed.

Ex1: cpu voltage rock solid with 1.25:
I decrease the vcore a little bit (1.24375).Then I test with OCCT IBT ... ... and I pass the test, while my program detects instability.

Ex2: cpu voltage rock solid with 1.25:
I decrease the vcore a little bit (same as before 1.24375), I try with IBT OCCT ... ... they give me a failure after a time much bigger than the time of my program.

Could you confirm these results?

what happened to you is normal ... I think that if you lower the vcore a little bit or you increase a little bit the frequency...the tests will give always "fail"

Your test program seems to be quite precise, if I decrease my normal Vcore by 1 click test always fails and if I add one click test always passes.

wow! I am very happy that my test works very well on your i7 930! Could you try other programs (ibt. linx ... etc. ..) at the same overclock and tell me if they fail also ... and if so how long? Thank you for your help ... these data are very important to me :-).

Dropping 1 click from my normal Vcore your test program reports fail in about 1 minute. Linx ran for 2 hrs and didn't find any errors. Prime95 found an error after 2 hrs 15 minutes. I'll check with OCCT too. By the way I am not running these tests on my sig rig, I'm using my other system which uses Asus Rampage Gene III & i7-950.

edit. OCCT (medium data set) reported error after 1 h 44 mins.
