Another way for Activision to take our money cheaply!!

As an avid CoD MW, MW2 and BO player... this looks bland. Same guns, same textures, same enemies, same looking environments.. I don't even know if I'll be picking this up.

It looks more like an expansion pack to MW2.

Man I'm disappointed by this. I was hoping Activision and whoever develops COD now was gonna throw up their finest to compete with Battlefield 3.

I've been playing BF since 1942, and that game has stolen months of my life, literally. There are no better gaming moments (especially with friends in a squad) than what Battlefield has brought to me. It all started with 1942 and Vietnam, and got 100x better when Battlefield 2 added squads and a commander to the mix. Brilliant!

A good 6 months of my life was completely consumed by Modern Warfare on the 360. The campaign was epic, the multi-player got my heart racing; it was my adrenaline fix in gaming for a solid bit. It was fast, fun and had style. And I've been playing COD since #1, back when scripted, hectic battles were the shiz.

But MW1 was the last Call of Duty I would play. I tried MW2, and found myself frowning. A lot. BLOPS, couldn't even get through the second mission until something like... receiving a text message swayed my attention, for good.

I understand that BF and COD are different games, and I don't play consoles often, but I own them and play certain games on them. But COD reminds me of Apple, Spoon feeding tiny-itsy-bitsy little "upgrades" and "changes" to make another 60$ per soul, sucker enough to buy in. It's sad, and it makes me lose faith in the art of what games are.

I am so blown away by the new BF, and have been since the first details started trickling out. Old feelings of amazing team effort, innovation in combat tactics, and flying planes upside down just feet off the ground over a friends head; these feelings are good ones. But this time, in a even newer, more cutting edge engine. My computer even fears the idea of BF3... so, I bought a new one.

BF3 is going to be so damn good, that everyone can have some money. Here ya go G.Skill ($80)! Here you are sir Intel ($230)! You too Nvidia ($275)! Awww why not ASUS ($210)? Etc. ...etc.

i built a new computer for BF3, and I told myself late last year I would. Bring on Frostbite 2 DICE, you talented ass Swedish geniuses!

Activision and Tyrtyrachryr errr whatevs... Step it up, or keep sucking money out of 12 year olds, cause thats cool too.

Or impress me! Right? Guess not this time.

TL;DR: BF3 looks great, innovative and glorious. MW3 looks like its trying to wrap up the fiscal year with as much $$$ as possible, and no contribution to the art of game development. Bummer.

I've been playing Infinity Ward's Call of Duty since it was Grey Matter (never bothered with the other guy because that was just Activision wanting more money), but the single player has always struck me as bland. Run here, shoot these bad guys, oh noes every bad guy is aiming at you even though you are in a squad, duck, shoot the bad guys, finish objective. But the multiplayer is what makes these games truly fun, although I stopped playing Call of Duty after Modern Warfare 1 because 2 just went unlock crazy. I am much more of a casual gamer to both with that nonsense.

I have also played Battlefield since 1942 and that is another truly fun multiplayer experience, although I've never played Bad Company as those are not true Battlefield games anyway. With Battlefield 3 they adding a single player campaign which, to me, looks and sounds cringe-worthy. From the footage I've seen, the dialogue is absolutely atrocious and again it is more 'shoot all these bad guys and duck occasionally.' Sure everything looks pretty (especially the exploding particles), but again I doubt single player will be worth my time.

Both of these series have treated me well in their multiplayer aspects. For straight infantry you have Call of Duty (oh noes, noob tube!) and for a mix of vehicles you have Battlefield (oh noes, tank noob!).

That being said, I am sure I will pick up Battlefield 3, but I doubt I will bother with Modern Warfare 3.

WOW that game is so crap i actually stopped the video when i saw him getting shot far away and everything feels UNREALISTIC. I think i'll stick with BF3 cuz they ACTUALLY talked to the military how they RUN things in the battlefield. And you guys were right.. mw2 is just your average arcade. Sure i'd play it but it won't get my money right now cuz it's just another "episode" of the sequel. BORING!

If you want realism, there's already a military simulator called, Arma. But you'll probably hate it.

I think it's rather silly to even think that this COD title in particular would put anything new forward since the implosion happened at IW last year. Sledgehammer and co. would still of needed some form of catch up in the way COD is made etc. and taking the short dev cycle of the COD franchise into account too.

To everyone complaining about the "cod hate", there wouldn't be hate if they actually did something more than reskin the same game year after year.
I think that's irrelevant now since the last couple of iterations. In every COD thread posted now days you see the same people that moan and complain about it and saying that they're not going to buy it. They're just drinking the Kool-Aid IMO. Why do these people care anymore? Why even bother complaining anymore? It's completely redundant now.

As for on topic. What gameplay changes would you people think COD should have? I think the core gameplay is what makes COD such a big seller. You can't turn it into BF, as BF is a large team-based, open warfare game. COD has always been a arcade style, hedonistic, infantry based, twitch shooter. All the stupid noobstreaks ruin it now IMO. I have a feeling that most of you are pubbing nubs. The competitive community doesn't care all that much about the look of a game (look at CS), it's that fantastic core gameplay and avatar movement.

I will never get the arguement that BF is realistic. Yes, maybe more so in comparison to COD, but they have never stated that their games are realistic only authentic. BF is still an arcade military shooter unlike ARMA and the like, I think that because it's more team focused that makes it stand out more (which is what I love about BF).

One thing they could introduce to make it better would be to have your own approach to missions at least i.e. stealth or shoot everything in sight, but this would probably be seen as too much work for the billions in cash the lazy COD developers would get for just using their Call of Duty stamp for the same old reskinned garbage.

Also I'd like to see a war game where you pick sides, I'm sick of playing the same ol' marines killing Iraqis and Russians, kill this root-of-all-evil Bin Laden wannabe, run around with some backstabbing Russian spy, disarm/steal some nukes from *insert ex-communist country name here*, blah blah blah. I want to pick sides, not be forced to hear the same old dialogue consisting of "Go go go!", "Fiiiiiiire!", "Go rescue *insert name here*!" and some Captain Warhero blabbing on etc. I don't know how people enjoy the single player campaign at all of these same war games, I find it a chore and don't listen to half the dialogue unless its unskippable and only play the single player campaign for target practice/training before going to the online side of the game.
LOL, This.
