Mouse movement recorder - accel/negativ accel

Thread Starter
Hi,

I just got myself a Deathadder Black Edition (3500 DPI). As always when I get something new for my PC I start reading up on the 'best' settings and stuff like that. Optimization geek for sure smile.gif

I came across a guide here on overclock.net (http://www.overclock.net/mice/173255-cs-s-mouse-optimization-guide.html) and from that I learned that there's issues with pixel skipping etc if your windows sens isn't at 6/10 among other things.

Using the tool he uses, and as can be seen in the screenshot I've attached, I obtained a 1:1 ratio between mouse movement and cursor movement on my desktop. However, this wasn't quite as satisfactory in games, as the screenshot also shows.

My question is now, what is the reason behind this negative accel (green background) and accel (red background), and how can I fix it? The guide is supposedly even aimed at CS:Source, but even when I go into a Source game, I can't obtain a 1:1 ratio.

I was hoping there'd be someone with some input on this problem, or perhaps who can just tell me that it's not even much of an issue?

Thanks in advance guys! The mouse rocks btw biggrin.gif

Ottosen.

Well yes, but that is sort of the ultimate negative acceleration.

What DPI are you using because a higher DPI will be more inconsistent in tracking.

3600 is what I'm using atm. If I wanna turn it down, the next step is 1800. I just felt, that this being a brand new mouse for me, I might as well utilize it.

I don't believe that 6/11 is the best setting, or the only one without accel. I find 3/11 and 1800dpi much better then 6/11 and 400dpi, although it's virtually the same sensitivity. But then again, I've been using 3/11 for more then 4 years now, and anything different just doesn't feel as good.

Ever heard of the muscle memory? The best settings are the settings you're already used to. Use whatever you like, it all comes down to personal preference. Use the same windows cursor sensitivity you used with your old mouse, and use the same dpi (or the closest to) of your old mouse. That's all there is to it, especially for games like CS 1.6/Source. Personal preference and consistency.

Assuming you're 6/11, which you should be, would this program accurately determine if your mouse has pos/neg accel without having to do the usual, and potentially inaccurate, ingame tests? Could you just go to your desktop and see if the program shows any red/green while swiping your mouse (without hitting the edges of your screen since that would automatically register as negativ accel)?

silly noobs:

(NOTE: While running a game, you may see many red and green lines. Games
that need a fix usually frequently re-position the pointer and this
confuses MouseMovementRecorder.exe but DOES NOT mean acceleration.
