Mouse gets sticky after a while

Hello

I own a MX518 which I use on a desk which has some sort of wooden covering. I play fps often and it randomly gets "sticky" under the mouse, it's like the sensivity changes all the time so it's a problem for aiming (I hope it's clear). I have a mousepad but the problem is the same, and it sucks since the pointer gets crazy on it. Someone knows how to solve it please?

Get a Q-tip and clean the sensor. Check the feet aren't slipping off, or if they already have, use the same Q-tip to clean any gunk off the bottom of the mouse.

Update drivers.

That goes for any mouse in general really. It's the maintenance that you should perform when you have any problems at all with any mouse.

If that fails, then go ahead and contact Logitech, they'll probably send you a new one no questions asked, their RMA service is absoloutely A1.

Hope that helps you.

Don't eat near your mousepad. Might just be crumbs mucking up the sensor.

A little canned air blast will clear it up.

Maybe I haven't been clear enough, it has nothing to do with pointer or drivers, it's like after a while the mouse is "catching" the desk. And I use no mousepad.

You may be wearing away the finish on your desk. Whatever shellac or sealant that was used to finish the desktop may rub off and then be adhering to the mousefeet, causing it to stick. You shouldn't have this trouble on a mousepad, but you will need to clean your mousefeet really well, to remove the accumulated gunk build-up, before switching over to it. You could also try new Teflon mousefeet (Hyperglides are good), but I normally wouldn't recommend using a finished desktop to mouse on directly, a mousepad is definitely best. Hard or soft, according to your preference, the MX518 will work with either type of mousepad.

I use a glass steelseries mousepad with my MX518. I love it. The great thing about the glass is that it is so easy to clean. I just give it a squirt of windex and scrub away with a paper towel. The mousepad is easy to keep super clean and very low friction.
