Hurt locker was supposedly good. I didn't watch it so I couldn't care less. And 17m is pitiful. That's about as bad as street fighter with chun li.

It only took 89 replies before some facts popped up. Actually, the subpoenas have already been revoked and the case can only proceed if the judge can be convinced all 23,000 defendants are within his jurisdiction and that they can all be joined into one case. Anyone who reads Ars regularly would know that this CNN article is pretty light on actual information. These cases have serious joinder and jurisdiction issues with most of them getting thrown out by judges all over the country. It's nice that judges are finally starting to get tired of these legal blackmail tactics, but it will only get worse until we see some copyright reform in favor of consumers. Like that'll ever happen.

That's what I heard too--it's sitting in our netflix queue at the moment.

However, just because a movie is good doesn't mean it will necessarily gross hundreds of millions at the box office...

Has there been an actual ruling on the question of whether an IP address equals a person? I thought that was still under debate. So long as the people who did download the files didn't personally identify themselves as downloading or possessing the movie from an illegal source, there's no way to prove in a court that they did. Question comes down to quality of lawyers, in that case. Not that the average joe blow will pay thousands for laywer fees when the settlement is $2k. A strategy that the plaintiffs are obviously touting.

Also I thought Hurt Locker was pretty good from what I saw of it on TV.
How am I supposed to get a warm fuzzy feeling from spending money?

Supporting corporations? I hate em all

The Hurt Locker was crap that almost no one liked, this is just them trying to make a quick buck.

Hurt Locker was very good. Thing is, it was never marketed and thus never brought in big bucks. It only got famous when it got selected for an award at a film festival.

I enjoyed it.
