Whatever happened to Master Sgt. Jeffrey Sarver, the guy who filed a suit claiming that the Hurt Locker stole his story?

Voltage Pictures probably counter-sued him for taking their idea from the future and enacting it in real life.

Please. You think the Oscars really matter these days?

Up in the Air, Inglourious Basterds, and District 9 were all heads and shoulders above Hurt Locker and either would have been a better choice for best picture.

The Hurt Locker winning was just a stab at James Cameron, since his ex-wife directed it, and Avatar was also in the running. Some of his media comments prior rubbed the AMPAS the wrong way. Also, this was one of those odd years that the Indie movie with a female director, that dealt with "the war" was the "in" thing to vote for, and to help boost sales for a studio that completely underwhelmed at the box office and in retail sales. Unfortunately the "win" didn't help much. Otherwise they probably wouldn't still be suing people. Avatar was probably pirated five times as much as The Hurt Locker was even seen in total and do you think he's bothering with suing people? No, because he actually made money.

Anyway, just look back when The Oscar's actually mattered and you'll see that The Hurt Locker is easily one of the worst movies to ever win the award. If you think the Oscars are now anything other than politics, you're a naive person.

That is your opinion.....utterly worthless to me.
The films you have quoted are also good, doesnt mean Hurt locker is rubbish cos it didnt make a bomb at the box office..
Another film like that is Moon, excellent film...hardly heard of.

BTW,the Oscars is a bunch of reach-around merchants having a love-in.

No it was popular because gates didn't charge devs to make software for it. Unlike apple.

Really? REALLY? then you are kidding yourself.

Any person with half a brain about the net knows how yo get pirated software and i can say without a doubt the day Windows version whatever is cracked its on the net and will have millions of D/Ls these people arent getting it because they need it they are getting it because its easier to get it pirated for $0 then pay the $200 for it.

And Up in the Air was godawful.
Clooney was OK in Burn After Reading...but everything else after O' Brother has been crap.

They can't sue anyone for The Expendables!!! That is just outrages... they should be sued for that terrible movie!

I'm always going to cinema for good movie, but this "piece of art" doesn't justify itself even for pirating :/

The whole point of the article was that The Hurt Locker, which is a great movie, ONLY grossed £17mil because it was pirated so badly.
