Duke Dukem Forever rated 62/100 on PC and only 50/100 on Xbox 360 by Metacritics - Page 3

So far, there's little worthy of praise. It's a clumsily put together game that, even when it tries hard to deliver exciting action set pieces like fights against giant bosses, feels dull and derivative. The only impressive part about Duke Nukem Forever is that it exists as a finished game.
Lol IGN.

Played it on my friends steam account yesterday. While its not the worst game ever, I think I was expect more. Also just like the demo, the poop throwing around in the beginning isn't as fun as it could have been. I wanted to throw poop at ppl like postal 2 lets you pee on ppl... Kind of disappointed by that. I don't know, if you were hyped up like I was about DF, you'll probably be disappointed a little.

Not the worst game that came out this year... but it is bad. Nothing to catch attention really.

That mini-car level was really stupid and a letdown for me. It was just weak, I didn't find it hard but you couldn't kill anything when you were tiny except for rats and it felt like I was driving in circles. That part of the game gave me a freaking headache.

I think all old gamers will like Duke Nukem Forever, because it feels like your playing a game in the 90's. The game feels like a "remake" since the graphics have been done and redone over the years. New gamers who play Call of Duty and Battlefield are probably not going to like this, since they probably haven't played Duke Nukem 3D and don't know what the hype is all about. But for us old gamers it's a good fit, and our 15 year wait haven't went to waste. I think they should of spent another year on it, since gearbox took over (i'm sure they would of redone it completely) Gearbox only polished the game, i'm sure they didn't change alot.

I rate the game 7.5/10 on PC ofcourse

It's really not that bad... Not worth the 50$ but I definitely would've enjoyed this a few years back when I was younger.

Played the demo.

I understand people have their opinion so if you like the game have at it. The following statement is for the old school gamers who remember when PC gaming was seperate from consoles in all aspects, controls, gfx, lvl design etc. We didn't have limitations but only creative minds and innovation and hardworking think outside the bun developers.

This game is an exact representation down to the marrow of consolfied gaming that PC gamers hate.

The level design is atrocious. I've never felt so claustrophobic playing a game. It's so locked down it's worse than Call of Duty. You have 1 obvious path to go and that's it. You go through hallways getting stuck by stupid quick time events especially in the beginning that you HAVE to go through. After that you go through some hallways then you get locked in a room and there you have it, an arena where enemies keep spawning for 5 minutes maybe a boss here and there. Then the enemies stop spawning and you go through some more hallways and corridors.

The gfx are alright, I'm more into sound and gameplay than I am gfx. Sound is alright but the idiots don't even support support surround sound, just the crappy 2 channel crap.

2 gun carrying limit? Keycards removed? From what I can tell no "secrets"? What the hell is this hide 5 seconds health then regenerates crap. The Duke humor is WAY over done. Every chance they get they make it very obvious it's Duke Nukem you're controlling.

I give it a 5/10. I've never been much a fan of Gearbox, they're exactly a mirror image of Obsidian. Great ideas but horrible execution. Gearbox Studios, as plain as day, made it obvious they're trying to cash in on the Duke Nukem name. They weren't giving us a game the fans were wanting and did us a favor. They saw a cash cow opportunity and went with it, then added every Call of Duty modern day dumbed down FPS feature possible.

Duke Nukem 3D fans are not liking this for a reason. Duke 3D was about finding your way through levels. Finding those secrets. Finding those annoying key cards and 20 minutes pushing those button puzzles. You had an open level and found your way through. You didn't have locked down corridors holding your hand.

Gearbox is now permanently off my list of games I'll ever consider purchasing.

That game looks nothing like the concept art I saw a few years ago.

Serious Sam 2 from six years ago looks better than that.

What happened?

Gearbox happened. Look at their track record. They cater to the consoles. They aren't going to spend the extra work using PC hardware, they want it to look just the same on consoles so less work on their end.

It's 2011 and they're using the Unreal 2.5 engine? Seriously? What's the matter Gearbox, couldn't make your own engine? They could have at least used UE3 but no, heck no.

The only Duke Nukem that's coming out that's staying true to it's core is Duke Nuke reloaded
