is it a Sparkle GTX 460 2GB or Sabertooth P67 Problem

Thread Starter
Background:
So i had a pc built threw iBuyPower, it has a Sabertooth p67 rev 3.0 and a Sparkle GeForce GTX 460 2GB when i received it i had digital artifacts across the screen so i removed the vid card and put it in the second pci slot, the artifacts where gone ... so i put it back in the first and they came back. I called iBP and they sent me out a new MoBo (thinking the pci slot was bad) now i installed the new MoBo and same problem with the digital artifacts ... here is what happens:

What Happens:
-i turn on the pc ... everything starts fine
-Windows 7 starts & all my start ups start
-I get artifacts across my screen (little boxes in diagonal rows)
-screen turns black and comes back sometimes ill get a kernal error
-Screen immediately turns back off and then says there is no video

My question: Is this my motherboard or is it possible that my video card doesn't like being on the top pci slot?

It's the Graphics card. Sounds exactly like something a GPU would do.

What res are you playing at?

Two 550s would be faster than a single 460, but its a dead end upgrade. Can you exchange your 460 for another and just get another 460 instead? or Exchange it for a 1gb version and buy another 1gb version.

Downgrade, except for the games that scale well with multi gpus even then it is silly to go from a 460 to a 550

Get another 460 for 120 off the market place if you don't have a warranty. If you do RMA it.

Yep.

But 2gb is kinda silly on a 460. Still its better than two 550s.

It's silly on a single 460, but for two in SLI, it's a great setup. They'll actually run games at max or near max at Surround resolutions quite well.
