4890CF is just a hair under a 6950 2gb. They are still decent, but you're dealing with lots more heat and power consumption than a 69xx card, besides all the new things 5xxx/6xxx generation brings to the table.

Imo you should go with 6950.
If you are lucky enough you can get 6970.
Also 6xxx series are lower power consumers and less heat producers.
Also if you are going to upgrade card over time, 2x 6950 will do great!

Well, 4890s would be pretty sweet, but a 6950 would be cheaper (sell 4890), quieter, cooler, and faster.

Really close in performance. I went from a 4870x2 to a 6950.

Go with the 6950. It'll be smoother at the same framerates because it's one gpu. My msi 6950 overclocks way better than my x2 did as well.

if you can sell the old 4890 and get the 6950 go for it...if not just grab another 4890.

Yeah I think you guys are right, If i sell the 4890 for about £60 I'm only looking at spending another £150 plus I wont have to change my PSU as I'm assuming that 700w wont cut it plus it keeps my case clean.
Cheers guys keep an eye on the my system specs in the very near future biggrin.gif

700w is more then enough, I believe you could run 6950 in crossfire with no problem!

4890's are sweet, but I'd go with the newer card. A single GPU solution is always preferable!

I have an OCZ stealthXstream and heard that they don't really like going over 600w load that's why I was doubting the power consumption redface.gif

Thanks for the replies guys checking Ebay for a price for mine as I type (sort of lol)
