Don't but from Zombie099 @ Amazon

Thread Starter
I bought an advertised XFX ATI 5850 card from this seller (Zombie099) a third party reseller. I made the mistake of buying this card in first place trying to save money but instead got ripped. I have filed a claim with Amazon and just have to wait for reimbursement.
I returned the card to the seller, he received it today.
I took pictures of the card before I returned it to cover my ass because i had a feeling from the start, this guy was full of it.
Now he is saying I fried the card. He says in his email he submitted to Amazon that it showed extensive damage on it's power circuit/transistor area, indicating use of force. He also stated there is melted flux and solder.
I want to scream.
I at least have the backing and coverage from Amazon to get my money back.
Also, I have been a customer longer with Amazon than this dude,he is new.

I should not have bought this card. I KNOW.
I feel like an idiot and really stupid.
I know not all third party sellers are bad.
But this experience has left me not wanting to ever buy from an individual again.
When I get my money back.
I am going to buy another card for my machine. But it wont be from an individual.
I will go back to newegg or tigerdirect.
This whole situation is ridiculous.

Here is his last email.
Date: June 9, 2011
To: John
From: Zombie099
Subject: RE: Inquiry from Amazon customer John: Received Damaged, Defective, or Wrong item (Order: 105-9337294-7113802)

A packaged was received today from John. The item purchased by this individual from myself (XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 1 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card HD585XZAFC) was returned via USPS Priority. Upon removing the card from the box and static bag, it showed extensive damage on it's power circuit/transistor area, indicating use of force. The board is large requiring sufficient space, markings now found are evidence of placing the device into a PC case that cannot properly house it's size! There are also areas of burns/melted flux throughout the board, implying internal stress caused from overheating! It was then installed to test functionality with no response! The device is no longer operational and is useless! Let it be noted, The United States Postal Service Box used showed no signs of maltreatment or tampering and the static bag along with newspaper filling was utilized, confirming no harm via transit. Rather, from the misuse and negligence due to installation/removal from buyer. To reiterate, I have no business affiliation nor am I a third party retailer and cannot submit for any type of reimbursement from a manufacturer! As per Amazon.com policy I will not submit for any refund and am in complete disgust with buyer!! Negative feedback will be submitted to make others aware of this situation! I will comply with all additional steps necessary to rectify this issue to the maximum extent with Amazon!

Amazon has good deals, but that's cause most of the time they are screwed up cards by third parties.

So, what's the problem? You can get the money back if you have proof. Also, WTH is melted flux? From my understanding (and Wikipedia's article on it) you can't really melt flux, lol.

Reminds me why as a 3rd party Amazon seller I still have 100s of product photos from pre to post packaging. Sucks, I would be pissed to get screwed over like that. Proud of my 100% rating. Hopefully you'll be taken care of.

Just hold your ground. Amazon is usally crappy with these type of handlings but stay on them. It took me 3 1/2 months to get cash back from a seller.

The only thing you can do is research the seller, and why not even PM a few of his buyers.

whenever possible I try to sell/buy here on OCN first!
