Help overclocking an i3 540?

Thread Starter
So I'm new to overclocking Intel chips, and I'm doing this for a friend so I'm not trying to push for the best possible result, just a nice boost over what he'd normally get safely.

Currently, I've got it up to 23 x 166.6 Mhz (3.83 Ghz) at what CPUz reports as 1.280v.

Since I'm running 2 x 2Gb Mushkin Silverline 1333MHz, and it doesn't like going above 1333 Mhz for me at voltages I like (under 1.55v), I've got it running at 499.8 Mhz (999.6) at timings of 6-6-6-15 1T with tRFC of 86.

Should I be trying to push the memory for more, or do you think that that's good enough?

The reason the overclock is so low is because I don't want to ask the guy to manually control his fan, the BIOS seems awful at it, and I don't want to force it to spin 100% to dissipate the heat. At this voltage, I can run Prime95 for several hours and temperature will max out at about 67C.

If you have any suggestions (that don't involve getting a new cooler), I'll be happy to hear them

Assumming the ram was running at 9-9-9-24 before thats a pretty solid overclock. As for the cpu, if your trying to keep it under 72ish you might be able to squeeze a little more out of the chip, but you are right near your limit.
