Need Help With No Power

post #1 of 5

I normally would go to Dell's Community since my system is a Dell but their website is down and i need some advice. Last night out power went off and when i woke up this morning and tried to turn my system back on it wouldn't power up. Just an Amber light on the power button. I've watched videos and tried a few things. Reseating my RAM, Video Card and HDD's. Nothing happened. Now a few minutes ago i popped the CMOS Battery out for about 5 minutes then put it back in and the system turned on.. My motherboard beeped 5 times.. I thought i had fixed the problem but when i turn the system off it does the same thing again. When i pop the battery out and reinstall it will turn on and do the same thing. You guys got any advice?

Have you checked to see what the beep code means?. Find out who makes the bios. I believe Intel likes AMI. If it is AMI then your error code would be

5 beeps == processor error.

From what i've been reading it's a power supply failure.

If you had a power surge it may have killed something on your system.

Thats what i was thinking.. Dell is telling me right now that it's a CMOS Battery error but i was under the impression that wouldn't keep my system from booting.
