Best quiet 140mm fan for horizontal mounting (blowing upward)?

Hello

I'm looking for the single best quiet 140mm fan for my brand new Thermalright Shaman. The TY-140 coming with it is very nice, however not suited well for blowing upwards, producing some very unpleasant rattling at ~65%-85% fan speed.

Any suggestions? I was looking at Scythe's Kama Flex 135mm 1600rpm (will be controlled via MSI Afterburner), anyone have some experience with those?
quiet.

If its rattling then a new fan won't fix that.

Why wouldn't a new fan fix the problem if the problem only exists when that particular fan reaches 65% max speed? Are you suggesting it's a vibration problem that the higher RPM causes vibrations carried through the case/frame itself, and the problem isn't a design flaw where the fan inside the fan housing isn't the thing vibrating?

"That won't help" isn't a very helpful comment.

It may be that you have a defective fan. I have three TY-140's and they all work fine pointed upward. OTOH, if you have your fan pointed upward, you may be having an interaction between the fan and the Shaman as the airflow increases.

I have an issue with fans on my Mugen 2. You can see the fan gaskets I used:

These are Vantec vibration dampeners.

You can also get Velcro squares, cut them in half diagonally and mount the triangles to the corner of your fan. This should provide enough clearance for your fan(s).

Should have been more specific, i think that its causing vibration of the case / frame.

Thanks for the answers, but the sound is definitely caused by the fan itself, as it also happens with the fan running in free air. I had the same problem with another TY-140 in the past (ended up returning the fan), and the review on SPCR reports the same issue.

So, any suggestions on a different fan for the cooler? Thanks
quiet.

Noctua NF-P14 has no issues pointed up.
Masscool has ball-bearing 140mm fans. One is here.

I have both fans and think the TY-140 is superb (in either orientation) YMMV of course.

The Kama Flex 135 1600 (SA1325FDB12H) is very low noise at lower speeds (or a storm coming at full tilt) and my sample came without the annoying "ticking" some 120mm Kamas emit at lower than 12V.

Unfortunately the 135mm Kama is rather new with me so I have no long time info to share although in a quick test it worked just great in whatever orientation.

Static pressure is yet another unknown, don't have the measuring tools (ideas anyone?).
