Gigabyte UD5 BIOS Vcore Confusion???

Thread Starter
Hi guys

Been OCing my new setup today and have it running a 4.5Ghz stable... but, been getting really confused (don't do this reg, but, did OC my last Q6600 on EVGA 780i board)...

First with the Vcore voltage on auto I getting a reading of 1.365v as the AUTO voltage output... whereas, if I check under PC Health in the BIOS I get a reading of 1.380v... how can I have a higher readout then input...? See pics!!

Secondly and most importantly the auto out for 4.5ghz is 1.365v... if I then change the AUTO output to 1.365v... the system becomes unstable under stress tests... I have to put a seemingly large 1.420v input for it to become stable and CPU-Z only reads out 1.380v when stressing...

Explaination for this would be great...

I have seen some people with similar setups to mine hit 4.8ghz with much lower Vcores (some as low as 1.355ghz)... why is mine different?

its called serial VID, its intels way for teh CPU to talk to the VRm and decide the best vcore for a set frequency, 4.5ghz is about teh max you can get away with SVID. You gotta start putting in a vcore. 1.4 is ok.
