Would you be able to swap the fan out for a more thin one? Or would that even make a difference? I needed some clearance in the front of my last case for a 140mm and found one that was about half the thickness of the normal fans. It barely fit but it made all the difference getting it in and out for cleaning etc.

@ Unit and Evil.

Yate Loon Slim Fan @ 20mm thickness. It's got pretty good static pressure for pushing air through fins. I have one in the rear 120mm fan mount so I could squeeze it inbetween the rad and case. Pretty quiet at full speed too.

But how will I add the fans to it since the stock ones use little clip things to hold them selves on to the heatsink?

That's a good question I forgot that's how they were held on...I used to have one too. Maybe something like this to pad the difference in thickness for the clips?

Hm... maybe someone makes a clip that fits thinner fans or has dealt with that problem before, I'm sure someone has. Might have to do some digging around on the net.

I would be incredibly surprised if you could push your chip to 5GHz without bumping Vcore. A few people managed to hit it but not many that's for sure. Last time I messed with OC'ing using only the multiplier and everything else on auto I could get it to boot and validate @ 4.7 and no higher myself. Seems like it's the general neighborhood of a cutoff level for stock voltage. I've pushed it up to 5.115Ghz since being on water stable @ 1.46v but my every day clock is 4.7 @ 1.38V tested for 14hrs of Prime95. It chews up and spits out everything I throw at it with 4.7Ghz and I feel like I'm not doing anything detrimental to the life of the chip. It is fun to see how far you can push it though huh biggrin.gif

Yea, I might play around with it too for a bit see how it goes if not, I'm just going to try and turn it down a bit this week to about 1.4 or 1.38 or something like that as long as its stable.

I had the same exact Cooler before I had my H80i and I managed to fit 2 Fans on it. Also, with regards the clips, you should have spare clips included on your Cooler, and also spare double sided tapes to hold them in.

And from memory, there are a lot of members here that have the same cooler running a push and pull.

Check your box it might be there somewhere

Hi, I have just received my new CM Storm Enforcer case and love it so far! biggrin.gif This is my first PC build so this might sound like a newbie question, but it would be much appreciated if you answer it. How do I know if my fans are pushing or pulling air? I've seen people talk about this but they never explain how to do it. Thanks thumb.gif
post #1629 of 2347
Most of the fans will have arrows on them with the direction they are spinning to and the direction the air is going to. Is on the side of the fan.

If not, the air is always going to the direction of the side that you see, so the side that is 'open'.
