Forgot to return 3DMark11 key with my ATI GPU...

I bought a 6870 3 weeks ago but it had problems, so I returned it. However, I forgot to return the copy of 3DMark11 (just a CD key) that came with it. I found it in my drawer today.

I bought the same exact 6870 again so now I have 2 copies of 3DMark11, one used, and one unused. This was 3 weeks ago. Could MSI get me in trouble or something? Should I go give the unopened CD key back to Fry's?

I don't think they'll even care. I had a free Mafia 2 key that I didn't return and they didn't say anything. It's a promo from AMD/Nvidia so it's not costing MSI anything.

Just give the key you haven't used in the freebies section. That way you can help out someone that does need one. But no you can't get in trouble. About the only thing would be feeling bad for keeping the key. But if you give it away then you will feel better about it.

Who's going to know? if they took the product back without looking to see if everything was inside that's their problem not yours.

Yeah, but if I just give it away, won't that cause even more problems? Lets say MSI finds out and they tell Fry's, and they call me up and accuse me of stealing... That's what I am scared of

Did you tie the key to your futuremark account? Either way it has been used and no good now. The key is nothing to worry about honestly. But yes morals does kick in. But just give the other key to someone. It isn't like they are going to come to your door @ 3a.m. and have a swat team with you looking for a key.

I actually lol'd at the SWAT team thing.

Meh, I might as well give it away in the freebies section... Has anyone ever forgotten to return a piece of something and gotten in trouble for it?

MSI won't even check. It's one key, I think they can afford it, besides, what are they going to do? Worst comes to worst, they'll de-activate your key, and even that is a BIG stretch.

Hey at least your honest, id keep it though, if they really wanted it I'm sure they would have denied the return.
