Evaluate my Zacate build

Thread Starter
Planning on making a small as close to silent build as possible.

Parts that I already have:
Kingston SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820139407

Scorpio Blue http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-568-_-Product

Parts that I still need and plan on getting:

Asus Deluxe Mini-Itx Board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131698

Antec ISK 300-65 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-068-_-Product

Parts that I need/suggestions:

Memory (low voltage would be nice while still being compatible with the board)
A dvd drive
Maybe some heat sensing fans? I want to keep the fans off for as long as possible.

Uses for this htpc: mostly playing 720/1080p rips from my WHS. Will also stream to Ipad pre-transcoded video through air server. Stream music from subsonic possibly. Will use xbmc as my front end. Questions/concerns are welcome. Thanks for the help

I'm using the same board for my HTPC and this is the memory I'm using
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820139046
just one 4GB stick

I didn't bother with a DVD drive cause I stream everything to it. Any slim drive should be fine, just remember to buy the slim SATA Power/Data adapter

I'm using the ISK 310-150 and I put in two Noctua 80mm fans and set them on a low RPM, can't hear them at all.

You'll need a IR blaster/WMC Remote in order to use the Harmony.

Personally wouldn't go for Zacate as the CPU's too slow for cases where GPU decode acceleration isn't working. If you know all your content can be hardware accelerated, though, then it's fine. Otherwise, build looks okay. Just go for a low-speed fan from Nexus, Noctua, Scythe, etc and you should be fine. The placement of the 24-pin PSU connector on the board would block one of the fans. On my ISK310-150, I had to remove the second fan holder as the motherboard won't fit otherwise (using a DH57JG which has similar power connector placement).

Unless there's some weirdness with the SSD controller or motherboard, I don't know why using sleep mode would adversely affect your SSD.

whoops, it's hibernate that adversely affects it, not sleep.

so it looks like you only run one case fan, is it controlled by the mb?

Id personally love to wait for llano to roll out but i dont know how long it's going to take for a mini itx integrated mb with llano to come out. if it's a month or two, maybe i could wait

Created a USB boot drive from the install disc on another computer. You could use a drive from somewhere else and then disconnect afterwards.
