So, before I order the parts this is what my new build looks like now. Stuff struck out I've already bought/using from old rig.

Components
ASROCK Z68 Extreme4
AMD 6970
i5 2500k
Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 4gb(2x2gb)
Xigmatek 650w
DVD-RW
Custom TJ07
640GB Samsung F1
Crucial M4 64GB

WaterCooling
Ek 6970 Nickel/Plexi
EK Supreme HF Nickel/Plexi
MCP655 Variable
Feser one UV Blue
MCR220
XSPC RX480
EK 250mm Multi option Res

Other
Black Sleeving
Black compression fittings
4x 1650 Yates for RX480
2x 1650rpm Yates for MCR220
Scythe Quiet Drive

Before I get called up on it, I know about the negatives of using dyes in my loop. I'm still going to do it.

Total is around £1500. Any advice on tubing size? Really do not want to spend any more but happy to shave off a few quid!

The custom TJ07 is an inverted motherboard, side panel, top window, and rad stands. All powder coated black.

avoid EK nickel products now, they have numerous issues. I'll suggest getting heatkiller blocks instead

Thought they'd fix'd it? If not, what about their copper/plexi products? They perform the same just look slightly (in my opinion) worse than their nickel counterparts. Only they can't flake off.

Hmm. What sort of things would you be doing with it?

Mostly gaming. I listen to music through it so will probably add a sound card in a month or two. Odd projects with university (nothing technical, word processing. At most maybe modelling basic proteins).

Hmm. Change that 2x2GB to a 2x4GB, or a 1x4GB. You might not use the 8GB, but if you get the single 4GB module you give yourself more expansion space in the future. Really, it's your choice. If you don't want 8GB, perhaps get 1x4GB and 1x2GB.

By running in single channel won't I half the frequency? Is 8GB really necessary? I'm running 4GB at the moment and I don't think I've ever needed more RAM.

I can't live without my 8GBs of RAM, even my laptop has 8 GBs. Idleing I'm using 3.5 GB. Gaming is about 5-6 GB, I always have multiple Firefox tabs and my Firefox use a ton of my RAM (Customization and 512mb cache)

No, 8GB isn't really necessary unless you're going to be doing a lot of that design stuff, or it's a high-resource-demanding game. On the case of you "halfing the frequency" with single channel, you wont. You'll lose about 1-2% of the frequency. If you want 4GB, I recommend the 1x4GB setup because you never know, some time in the future you may want more RAM, and you'll have more free DIMMs.

I see. I may well go with a single stick of 4gb then.

Does anybody know of any plexi/nickle full cover 6970 waterblocks? I know it's stupid but I had my heart set on it but EK nickle plating is dodgy to say the least. I can't seem to find ANY plexi tops for 6970 waterblocks that aren't made by EK. Worst comes to worst I'll have to switch to a copper/plexi on both the supreme HF and the 6970 block. Would rather avoid the company all together now though.
