Help needed choosing from the following

Thread Starter
Hey guys i just need some help / opinions on the following ram.

CMP6GX3M3A1600C8
http://www.foxcomp.com.au/ProductDetail.asp?ID=13248

G.Skill F3-12800CL6T-6GBPI (3x2GB) DDR3
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=14098

G.Skill PI Series F3-12800CL7T-6GBPI 6GB
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=13929

Now it is mainly between the first two and I understand that the gskill memeory has faster timings then the corsair but is there any draw backs? like compatibility and also will there be an improvement with the tighter timings?

I will be running this memory on the Asus Rampage 3 formula motherboard with a intel i7 960 cpu.

Any feed back would be great! thank you

2nd option, those timings are pretty damn good. I have not heard of anything bad about GSkill that would make me choose the Corsair, and I know that GSkill makes quality products.

Yeah i was thinking of getting that as well and the price seems really good too. Do you know if there will be a noticeable difference with the tighter timings?

Most likely not, but it's definitely a nice feature to have. To put it in perspective, it's like having a stock car as opposed to a formula 1 car. Don't get me wrong, they're both fast as hell, but one would definitely outperform the other in speed.

According to their compatability list, none of those sets are compatible. Maybe someone with that motherboard paired with one of those 3 sets of RAM could weigh in. I simply know the few times I purchased RAM without checking compatability, it didn't work. That could have been bad luck, but who knows.

Yeah i understand i have checked the memory compatibility pdf from asus and understand that its not listed there. Having said that I am running ddr3 1333 (TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX) ram in there at the moment that is not specified on the list either. It would be great if someone with the same ram and motherboard could lend some words.

IMO, this:
G.Skill F3-12800CL6T-6GBPI (3x2GB) DDR3
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=14098
Would be your best choice!
G.Skill is widely accepted, even by boards that don't have it on there compatibility list!

My memory is very close to your 1st choice,
and I'm not real happy with it.

Corsair is quality memory, but so is G.Skill, and the G.Skill will have the lower voltage of the 2

Ah, in that case I'd go G.SKILL all day. I'm running some 1066mhz DDR2 sticks from them in my sig rig, and they've posted at over 1100mhz with my E8400 (old processor). For what its worth, unless you're doing a lot of synthetics, CL6 vs CL7 shouldn't make a lot of difference. So, if the price difference is anything near significant, i'd probably just go with the CL7s.

GL with your purchase

Thank you very much for your opinions guys! I have decided to go with the Gskill CL6 there is only a $20 difference between the CL7 and the CL6 and I reckon its worth the extra $. I hope it all runs smoothly
