Asus P8Z68-VPRO bios loop issue??

Thread Starter
I've tried to find more about this and have come up with very little. I changed some settings that people said referring to the P67 boards that were doin the same thing and nothing. I tried to update the BIOS but the BUPdater program isn't loading.

I cleared the CMOS. Nothing.

When I give it power, the ASUS screen comes up and says "hit del to enter bios" like normal. then it goes away. then it says Cannot find hard disk. Then it's like it reboots itself, then the same screen comes up again and then it will start windows. Anyone have this problem??

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Oh and my sig rig is not what I'm using.

ASUS P8Z68-VPRO
i7 2600k
Crucial 1333 4gb ram
geforce 8800gts all on a torture rack. Thanks.

When you say "reboot" does it cut the power off to your systems?

Otherwise, what you are seeing is normal if you have your hard drive connected to the white 6gb/s ports. ASUS screen -> Marvell cant find hard disk -> ASUS screen -> Windows. I ran into a similar issue myself

No, it's doing what you just said but I don't have them connected to the white ports. I have my DVD drive, sata boot drive and sata storage on 3 of the blue ports.

Sorry I worded it wrong, if you don't have anything connected to the Marvell ports, then you will get that no hard disk msg.

damn beer.

Ahhh, I see now. Maybe I will try my storage drive hooked to that and see how it goes.

Have you tried this:

Go into your bios>go to your Boot Order page>put your first boot device as your Boot up drive/OS

Where it says 2nd and 3rd boot device, highlight them, and choose "Disable"

This way, your bios only has 1 option to choose from, when selecting the first boot device.

Good luck!
______________
also, if your not using your 6Gb SATA connectors, you can disable them in your bios, (disable your Marvel controller)

yeah its not the double post problem with the p67 boards. The p67s actually reboot or "repower" as in turn off and on.

I have the asus z68 pro too. Same thing happens here.

Thank you all for the replies. I think I may have jumped the gun on posting this and it's not a bios "loop" at all, and it's just flip flopping from the asus screen to the startup screen and back again haha. I'm just not used t it since I normally have always run Gigabyte stuff. Maybe that doesn't matter but anyways. Rookie mistake but I thank everyone for the help!

Now I just need a better HSF and an SSD and this thing will cook. I have a lot of reading up to do on the OC options also. Sheesh.
