OMG Where did my 55x multi go!!!!

OH MY, Its been right under my nose this whole time. If some of you guys remember I posted about going through 12 2500k chips trying to find that magic 55x. Well I decided to try out the very first one I got, which was from newegg Batch # 3047A83, booted to 53x cool, 54x nice, 55x OMG WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?

So then I tried 56x, boom blinking line, okay so I went back to 55x and now it wont boot into windows! what happened?

Anywho this was my settings:

- PLL Overvoltage Enabled
- ALL C-States disabled
- 1.65v (usually 1.55v)
- 2 cores disabled

Lets put our thinking cap on and see if we can boot back to 55x

Oh and here 54x validation with all cores enabled

If you take out 2 sticks of RAM, wouldn't that help a little?

Maybe get you your 56x

Try to disable 2 or 3 of the CPU cores?

Pushing the voltages beyond the limit, eh? I like it! Suicide run or just a "seehowfaricangetitbeforeitdies" thing?

WOW ! you must be rich to afford all these cpu's, good for you but why the fuss over x53 or higher when it will equate to such a limited CPU life span and cost you so much as well.
My 2500k maxes out at 5ghz wont even post bios at x51 but at 5ghz its only 30secs quicker at encoding and no quicker at all in games from my 24/7 of 4.7ghz 1.39v.

I saw the same thing last time I played around with my 2500k. Before it booted & benched at 55x no problem, then I folded for a week at 4.5Ghz & now it doesn't want to load windows at 55x even with a bit more voltage. Gotta get it colder & work it some more to see what's up with that.

Benchmarking, with sandy bridge it's all about going through cpus until finding one that is fast enough to keep up or pass the competition...
Hopefully the next generation goes back to cooling & tweaking playing a part in the overclock ability of the chip, not just binning.

Ive already answered this. He's not converting his porn videos; he's overclocking. Most likely for HWBot.

@OP: Nice job, you've spent quite a bit finding this gem, haven't you?

You win lots of money benchmarking like this right? I assume you do for going through that much trouble doing something anyone that wants to, can.

Anyone who wants to can bench, true. Doing well at it is easier said than done.
In competitions there are usually prizes involved, but it is a hobby, like gaming.
I have barely gamed at all since getting into benching, also fun & a lot more challenging.
People spend money on games & better gpus & all that for gaming, not just to win money.

Yup MR K and 420 hit on the nail, its fun trying to find that one chip. Although for me, I have a few requirements to find that chip

- Must do 55x multi or higher
- Must be stable at 50x below 1.45(I'm not so much worried about this one)

I just got into this as well
