3.5GHz Intel C2D is outperforming 4GHz Phenom, why? - Page 3

If you only want to run SuperPi all day, why bother with a quad?

It's really one of the more useless benchmarks available, and only really highlights changes in performance of the same platform with regards to improvements by overclock, etc.

What do you ACTUALLY use your PC for? You will notice a marked improvement from the quad.

Also, yes I know I have more cores so it's still "faster" but getting beat in a superpi 2M digits by 4 seconds is pretty bad IMHO

Thanks!
You're basing this off of ONE heavily Intel biased benchmark?

If you really want to understand why AMD(or any other chip mfr.) can't match Intel clock for clock,I suggest you look into the history between the two.

Doesn't explain why AMD lags behind in games though, does it?

Phenom 2 is basically as good as a q6600 clock for clock....I have 4 different Phenom 2 processors and all were slower than my Yorkfield and of course Lynnfield and Sandy Bridge setups in BC2

It does.
Games could also be optimized for Intel CPU's.

Never compare Intel and AMD processors with SuperPi, because the way it was coded it was so Intel-optimized that it sabotaged AMD results. It's also pretty much one of the worst Pi calculators out there, there are others that are so much more efficient. Can be decent as a stress test tool for memory at 32M though.

Depends what program compiled it. Interesting article, to say the least.
