If I were moving up to Bulldozer, this would probably be my board of choice since the features/price is just right for me.

but in terms of single GPU, which is the real benefit of the 990 series over 970 series?

Hypertransport maybe?

I got mine lately for $100 (surprise NCIX sale - it was a steal!) and have been fairly satisfied. It runs it stable with a bit more headroom than my old 790X 300Mhz bus clock worked from the start and I am able to maintain same OC settings.

Please don't bump excessively old threads though. I am sure the OP has already decided on a board. If you have more to say about this board, you can do so in the Gigabyte GA-990XA/970A owners club, which I manage.

99 pounds comes out to $162 .
You Americans seem to forget that we Brits have to pay VAT on top of the price over here and that over there all you have is State/county and the other tax to pay.

I stayed in NC and GA a few times and when I paid for anything I paid the same taxes as y''all do over there.
When I got the stuff back over here I had to pay import tax and VAT on it.
