Sandy Bridge & 1.6v RAM?

I'm building a new PC and I will be using a D14 as a cooler.
At first I wanted to get 1.5v Corsair vengeance ram but those ram kits are not compatible with the D14 so I found the Ripjaws X from G.Skill and they do fit, but the kit that I'm looking at F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH 8GB DDR3 1600 CL7 is rated to run at 1.6v, would this give any issues while using it on sandy bridge?

Should be no problem. Many people run memory higher then 1.5v on the SB setups. But spelling out all your details like what exact RAM and board would help.

You'll be fine. 1.6v is the standard for RAM

@Bizzare: It's just that I've seen some people here talking about 1.5v is required for SB, etc..

1.6 is just fine. I bought the patriot Division 2 kit which is specifically designed for SB, and stock volt is 1.65 . Been running that voltage for quite sometimes, and had no issue so far.

1.65v is the max for sandy bridge so you're in the safe zone

reasons as to why some of them are over the typical 1.5v is due to tighter timings and sometimes even clock speeds, so as a result, they'll require a little bit more juice, which you shouldn't worry about smile.gif

I'm running 1.85v atm on my HyperX, nothing has happened really I've been running 6 months

You're on 1366, 1155 is a bit different with voltages.

I'm also just about to order two kits (16GB) of the Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH. I was concerned about the voltage. Motherboard is GA-P67A-UD7-B3 and CPU is 2600K. Will I be OK with 4x1.6v modules, or would it be safer to stick with 1 kit (2 modules)?

Intel recommends a max RAM voltage of 1.5V on SB. There have been cases of CPU degradation due to high memory voltage, 1.65V being safe on SB is a lie, and it applies to Nehalem, the 45nm i7s.. CPUs are complex and degradation in one area of the chip due to voltages can easily take the whole chip with it.
Proof of my claim:
Navigate to "Processor System Agent I/O Buffer Supply DC Voltage and Current
Specifications. "Page 79. Intel

Just get this RAM, i got a total 16GB of it. They also rated at rather tight timings of 8-8-8-24.
