Just get this RAM, i got a total 16GB of it. They also rated at rather tight timings of 8-8-8-24.

Then I guess my chip is degraded then huh? I've been running 1.70v since launch on my RAM. No issues as of yet, and it still clocks just as well as the day I bought it.

Why do you have so up your rear about it. Ive posted the info, backed up my voltage claim and clearly stated that "others" said about voltage degradation.

There's this F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2 kit, it's rated at 1.25v, but the timings aren't so good. However the biggest problem with these 'Sniper' modules, IMO, is the heatsink. D: I want RAM, not an Action Man toy...

This might help you decide what is imprtant in SB chips as a casual user or bencher.

The Best Memory for Sandy Bridge

For everyday use ram timings and speed does not make much difference in sandybridge, as a bencher, using something like super pi, is where you will see the difference. For example in real world performance my cl8 1866 runs near enough the same as 2133 cl8. Check the link I provided as there is a lot info that will help.

You should be able to get this kit in NZ;

Runs @ 1.5v, its CAS9 1600MHz which isn't the greatest (timing wise) but will do perfectly fine for everyday use. Unless you benchmark there's no real reason to pay more for memory with tighter timings or higher frequency.

I know that is a 4GB kit, but 4GB is more than enough for gaming. If you want an 8GB kit (2 x 4GB) then look at these (Again, should be available in NZ);

Sorry, I think it was because I hijacked your thread.

However my main concern is the same as yours: can one safely run that 1.6v kit with SB. But as usual, there are too many conflicting answers to draw any definite conclusion. I've been asking on other forums, and folks there are just as divided.

I'm starting to think I might buy the F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH, and run it at 1.5v CAS 8 until there is more evidence as to the long term effects of 1.6v RAM on SB...
