how does it help?

Thread Starter
As title states how does putting a rad in a slushbox help get higher overclocks? does it allow for more oc at the same volts or does it just allow more volts to produce the higher oc? Also is there any side effects other than condinsation? as I can get my sig rig to boot at 4.6 but unstable for anything else and I would like to be able to get higher oc validations and possibly some benches for HWbot but am limited on funds and trying to find cheap alternatives without destorying components. Thanks for any info and help as I have searched somem but no defanite answers.

Putting the Rad in a slushbox gives you lower temperatures - Which means less resistance to electron flow, so overclocks (for some benching) become slightly more stable. The same reason LN2/LHe and DICE are popular on the extreme overclocking scene, because the cold induces less resistance and usually means you can use more voltage to get higher clocks.

Makes CPU colder, which means more V's can be added and hopefully higher GHz's for benches.

I knew it would cool the cpu better but at say 1.55 volts to boot at 4.4 now would a slushbox allow me to boot at 4.6 with the same volts is kinda what I'm wanting to know and also does it lower the risk of using higher volt from burning up the cpu, as right now my load temps at 4.2/1.49 volts gets around 54-55c and I have booted at 4.6 but it took 1.61 volts to do it as the board I got has major vdroop and it hurts my overclocks

Eh. It allows you to use higher voltages without heat getting in the way. Voltages can still kill it, Dont pump 2v into it and think its all fine and dandy.

No... If it can't boot/stay stable at a certain speed/voltage having it colder is not going to change anything.

It just lowers the temp so you can overclock further without the CPU hiting its thermal limits and throttling.

Edit:- Ninja'd twice now...

Well, if you were running benchmarks, they would fail/show errors/lag etc... (that's if it does not shutdown...)

That was probably instability. Not throttling.
