Lenovo X120e?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-103-_-Product

Sold out on newegg, but you can get them about the same price or cheaper on Lenovo's website. AMD E-350 APU can even play some 3D games if you ever feel like it. Plays 1080p videos fine too. They are pretty thin IMO.

This is the thinnest, lightest one I can find... Its got all the hardware you want in it, but you'd have to break your budget a bit.. Even the smaller netbooks are all heavier and thicker than this one.

You mean like the Eee PC 1018P? If that had a 1366x768 resolution, it would be adequate though I'd prefer the AMD E-350 CPU. If you can find an ASUS netbook that meets my specs, PLEASE send it my way!

Good idea, but it's too thick and heavy, and possibly overkill for what I'm looking for.

MSI X370-001US: I'm not too worried about the budget, but it's too thick and heavy.

Does a slim, light, small laptop/netbook that's not focused around power and marketing just not exist? They seem to have the right idea with tablets. If my former ASUS Transformer tablet was able to run Ubuntu, that would have been perfect.

The ASUS Eee Slider runs Android Honeycomb, which sadly didn't cut it for me - though I really wanted it to! I previously tried the Transformer for a week or two. Maybe when the Android tablet platform is more mature, it will be better. For now, I need something capable of running Debian/Ubuntu.

Sorry, I'm not going to get into a debate about Windows vs. Mac. vs. Linux in this thread, but I appreciate your comments.

These notebooks are all pretty light and thin honestly.. I guess you just need to see them in person to really be able to tell.

You're right - relatively speaking they are somewhat thin and light.

I am just comparing to my old ASUS Transformer tablet (13mm thick, 1.5lbs) and my current Lenovo T61 (34mm, 5-6lbs). I'd like something the size of the Transformer plus a keyboard that runs Ubuntu... or a tablet that runs Ubuntu and I'll get a Bluetooth keyboard for it.

It's a bit thicker and uses an Intel CULV chip, but take a quick look at the Acer Aspire 1810tz? I can coax 11 hours of work (Word/Excel/Powerpoint work) out of mine, if I'm not asking it to talk to the outside world.

Actually, thinking about that, it's likely been superseded so you'd need to look at the 1825ptz or similar, but the Acer ultraportables seem to be built a bit tougher than their larger brethren. No give anywhere on mine.
