How is the 8800gts 512MB for Physx - Page 2

I have used an 8800GTX (having 128 shaders just like a 8800GTS 512) as Physx card to help out an (oc'ed 780/2000) GTX570 at 1920x1200.

For Mafia II, having the 8800GTX improves the framerate (by about 13%) over a GTX570 doing all.

Not sure why that happened, but as you can see above, I graphed out the FPS over the Mafia 2 bench run (1920x1200, maxed out in-game) using FRAPS, and posted my results above.

My results show that, at least at these settings, there is a definite benefit to adding an 8800GT to my SLI 470's, esp. in the first 1/2 of the benchmark. It seems unlikely that a 570 would experience less of a benefit from a 9800GTX than my 470's do with an 8800GT. Assuming all else was equal, of course.

I've also played part of the game with and w/o the dedicated physX card, and the dedicated card provides a noticeably smoother gameplay experience.

How does the 8800gts 512mb version perform as physx card for Mafia 2 and Batman AA?
With an AMD/ATI gpu...that would be nice. With a GTX 570, I would use a GTS 250/450 but that 8800 GTS should be fine. The 570 is basically equal to the 480 performance and it has been proven that the GTS 250/450 makes a nice dedicated gpu for PhysX with the 480. Performance-wise, the 8800 GTS 512mb is not that far behind the GTS 250/450.
