MW2 multiplayer no one plays?

Thread Starter
So i've played mw2 on xbox since it came out and have never had a problem getting into any game type.

I bought it for pc while on sale this week and it seems no one plays anything but TD or FFA? The main reason i bought it was because of 3rd person game modes and either no one plays or I can't find the games.

My Nat type is open just like it says on the 360 and pc. Any other games I play online have zero connection issues so it must be that not many ppl play.

Any other ideas?

Edit also even the TD and FFA games take forever to join...

I'd say it was your internet connection, what speed do you get?

or

If you xbox is using a wireless connection how far away from the router is it? is the router any good?

No problems with the xbox games. Just when i play mw 2 on steam. i get 6mb down which goes up to 750kb/s when dling games from steam. Like i said all my steam games i don't have a problem joining multiplayer games. Just Mw2 games. Only Gametypes i can join are team deathmatch and once in a great while a FFA game. All other gametypes either have zero ppl playing or i can't find the games.

  • Disable any firewall or security features on your router.

  • Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Xbox 360. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP).
  • Additionally Xbox Live requires ports 80, 53 (TCP) and 88, 53 (UDP).
  • Place your Xbox 360 into the DMZ of your router.
  • If both fail, disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Microsoft's Xbox Live Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having.
  • You can also check the following link to verify that you have an Xbox Live compatible router.

NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your Xbox 360 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to be done again.

NOTE: Many broadband internet modems are coming with routing capabilities built in. Please contact your internet service provider to determine if your internet modem has an integrated router. If it does, they should be able to assist you with the steps above for setting up your router.

Once you have verified that your network setup is not the cause of the issue, try the following

- Try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with. In most games this is accomplished by backing out to the main menu and then selecting multiplayer again. From there you can try connecting to another online game.

- Run the Xbox Network Self Test to see how strong your NAT is currently set to. Turn on your Xbox 360 without a disc inside and go to "My Xbox", select "System Settings"-> "Network Settings" then choose "Test Xbox Live Connection" and let the test run. Once the test is completed you will be notified if there is an issue with your connection. If you select "More Info" you will be given information about your NAT type and some steps to resolve any issues with your connection.

Taken from Here

try searching arround Here for some different answers if that doesnt work.

Check your NAT type in game. If mine is NAT 3 it won't connect to any multiplayer game.

Try putting in another game or an older COD (Stupid Activision messed this up on some peoples systems) It works for me when it does this (Which is every time I put it on ).

Also this

If this fails too try the port forwarding above & Security stuff I have half disabled

EDIT: Realized there's already some things about NAT in the first post now. I don't read long things like that. Only the first sentence or two

There's about 30-40k peak players on MW2 every day. So chances are it may be something to with your connection.

Yea I hate the lack of dedicated servers. I've tried connecting a few times and never could find anyone on to play so I've basically discarded it and only play Black Ops.
I mean I guess it could be an issue of speed, but since the university I go to has some pretty fast speeds and I had problems I would say more an issue of not that many ppl playing it
